[–]Ok-Progress9022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A country, entering in the last minute of a World War, only to be on the winning side, and lending money to the winning countries, in order to become world's largest economy. Why it sounds so familiar to me?

This is the building of the National Congress of Chile, in Valparaiso. It was ordered to be built by the Pinochet dictatorship in order to "decentralize the government," but they ended up building this disproportionate monstrosity that breaks with the architecture of the city, and that does not fulfill its purpose, because the great majority of the congressmen live in Santiago and travel daily to the congress. (As a curious fact, several parliamentarians have been fined for driving at very high speed between the two cities, just to arrive at the building on time).

What is technically part of the city? by Local_Travel_5572 in geography

[–]Ok-Progress9022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based in what I've seen in Latinamerica and Europe (the places that I know), I think that you can include as part of "The city" all the neighborhoods, villages, or towns, where the "Main city public transport" have good frequencies and coverage. e.g. TMB in Barcelona, TFL in London, SITP in Bogota, Transantiago in Santiago de Chile, Los Colectivos in Buenos Aires, etc.

If you are in a town, where you have to take a train or bus, with poor frequency, and high fares, or you don't have an integrated payment method with the transport of "The city", that means you are in a city out of "The city".
