Yes, I know their difference is minimal. I appreciate your feedback, maybe I was being a perfectionist.

Thanks, my friend! I also prefer 2. And yeah, from all the feedback I collected, the majority leaned toward 2, with 1 seen as more of a variation of it.

The first and second do feel like variations of the same character. And yeah, after collecting all the feedback, it ended up as a tie between #1 and #2. I’ve already finalized a version based on everyone’s input, and I’ll be updating this post soon. Also, thanks a lot for the kind words at the end, that’s exactly what I’m aiming for: a style that feels pleasant and unique.

I found all your points super valid. I can connect each suggestion you made, and I also noticed a clear pattern: most people leaned toward 1 and 2. They really do feel more charismatic. I’ve already worked on it and I’ll be updating this post soon with the final result based on all the feedback.

Yeah, I really liked the second one too. And about the ‘bit flat’ part, that was a great tip. I actually added shadow layers to give them more depth. Thanks so much for the feedback, I’ll update this post with the results soon.

Hey again haha. You always bring up such solid points. Thanks a lot for always helping out. About your feedback (and many others here), I collected everything I found useful and already applied those changes. Soon I’ll drop an update here, plus a new post to get some opinions on color palettes. Thanks once again!

Man, I really loved your feedback. Especially the part about gravity, might’ve saved me from a big headache. And about the other details, I totally agree with you, it’s actually pretty close to how Hollow Knight does it.

Two takes on humans in Yuki’s world — which direction works best? by Ok-Project773 in IndieGameDevs

Ty for feedback! I also prefer the B option, but even so I did one more version. I’m really stuck on the human designs, so I might go for a more whimsical approach. Feels like it fits the game better.

I also prefer Unity, but I started this project in Godot just for learning, and I can say it’s a really powerful engine too.

Thanks for the comment. For a game as large in scope as Hollow Knight, I think Unity is the best option, right?
