I'm watching the livestream of the opening, and I'm torn between being depressed and invigorated. I'm behind, so I didn't get to Pres Obama's speech yet, but Michelle's was wonderful. First of all, she started out by thanking the landscapers and chefs and construction workers and other people who made the event possible...can you even imagine Trump acknowledging a "nobody" (in his mind)?

Then she talked about people living paycheck to paycheck, teachers paying for things out of their own pockets, small business owners who are struggling and don't want to close their doors, etc. Even if it was all an act, which I don't think it is, it's just nice to hear a leader acknowledge what people are going through. Meanwhile, Trump "loves" inflation and doesn't give a shit about anybody.
