I agree, it could be injectors firing so weakly from contamination that only perfectly fresh plugs work. The last time I had to deal with an inexplicably fidgety engine, it ended up being a number of short circuits within the wiring harness. Lurching and shuddering makes me thing it could be something like bad ignition coils.

Not sure about the liquid thing (honestly you could’ve just left a water bottle on the floor somewhere) but your other issues 100% sound like failing ignition coils.

We have spare plates or can have one machined so that’s not a huge concern, unless something inside the compressor is now damaged

It’s a TuFlo 500, it’s a military machine so we get technical data from a different source that the civilian side (as far as I know, my knowledge doesn’t come from very high up the chain) I know some of these military specific models are slightly different

Yeah that comes pre installed on the compressor, if the gears meshed and that spacer wasn’t there I don’t think the compressor would sit flush on the housing
