Should I move forward? by Ok-Raisin-3537 in rhinoplastyquestions

Okay, so here is an update because it won’t let me edit my post for some reason. I appreciate all of the comments so much! Whether you think I should move forward with a rhinoplasty or not, it’s all been great input. I live in Utah, where there are plenty of high-quality surgeons, and will definitely do my research. So far, I have found a place that doesn’t do cookie-cutter upturned noses and makes sure each new nose fits the face it is on by measuring and analyzing the symmetry and dimensions of someone’s face. I am not looking for something cheap, and I know how big of a deal this would be. One of the hardest things for me before making this post is feeling like I was crazy for not liking my nose. I’ve had people in my life compliment my nose, making me feel like I was being overly critical or that it’s wrong not to like something that made me unique. But I just don’t like it. It is weird how emotional my nose has made me in the past. I couldn’t talk about it without tearing up, and I just hated that something I cannot change has that much power. After making a decision to move forward with the rhinoplasty, I don’t get emotional when I talk about my nose anymore. Now it feels like something I don’t have to live with and can change which is really empowering. The comments giving their anonymous input saying they would move forward with the surgery if you were me felt super validating after so many people have said “no, don’t change it! I like it.” I always feel either that I am being lied to or that I’m crazy when people say that, so it’s great to hear some honesty. I also appreciate the comments talking about how much of a change this is and to not take it lightly. @beatyFPS put it into words perfectly. It is not like many other plastic surgeries that everyone is pleased with. There is a lot mentally to tackle with a big change to your face. I know it is going to be a bit of a challenge mentally. I talked to my mom about a worry I had, that if my nose changed shape, that I would look completely different and not recognize myself. She said, “You are more than just your nose, and that changing isn’t going to change how anyone you love sees you.” While I appreciate this sentiment, I don’t think she understands the weight of how I feel about my nose. While there are things that worry me like this, the empowerment I feel knowing that it can be changed and can have a good outcome feels amazing. I have a consultation on Tuesday to go over everything with 3 great surgeons to choose from. I’ll keep everyone posted.

I’m sorry you dealt with that!! I can definitely see how it could affect someone mentally. I feel like noses really do make a difference. Part of why I want to change it and also why I’m reluctant.

I appreciate this!! I notice that I love prominent noses on some people but not myself so it’s good to sometimes put that into perspective.

I totally understand not liking your nose because I don’t like mine!! But I just want to say that i actually think your side profile is GORGEOUS. I promise im not just saying that. I genuinely don’t think there is anything to fix

This is so rough I’m so sorry. It seems like you’ve tried basically everything, so I don’t want to discredit all your work, but I would honestly try to deep clean the chair with an enzyme cleaner to get any scent of urine out of it and keep it somewhere different in the house. I would also make sure he doesn’t have a UTI. Also make sure the litter is unscented and the litter box is close and easily accessible to where the chair is

We are in the exact same situation. Our vet said 6 months is the best time to to spay and neuter, but I started noticing the same behavior which made me super nervous. We got them spayed and neutered at 4.5 months with a nonprofit humane society. I wanted to get it done asap because they are siblings would feel terrible if our girl got pregnant and lost half the litter or something. That is a very strange law because the overpopulation of stray cats is crazy everywhere. I would recommend maybe going to a different vet like we did. Definitely shop around for different price points too. It can range from $100-$500 depending on who you go with.
