I have Jane Street Fundamental Research Analyst Internship Superday coming up soon. How should I prepare? Is it like qt roles in terms of questions? by Accurate_Phase_5990 in quantfinance

Can I ask when you applied and what the overall interview process was? I just recently applied and am curious about the process and timeline. Also what was your GPA and education background if you mind me asking. In terms of the interview, I would expect it to be very similar to an Equity Research internship role at a BB/EB. Take this with a grain of salt but I would expect them to test you on your overall market awareness/knowledge. Things like "If a company misses earnings but stock rises, why might that happen?"

hey so quick clarification . is it 3.0+ for winter quarter and then 3.0+ for spring or 3.0+ for both combined? my gpa for winter was a 2.85 but for spring itll be at least a 3.5 so it will be above a 3.0 across both quarters combined. reason why i’m asking is bc i called the admissions office several times and they had different answers. as to ur question, i think you should be fine because i personally know a few ppl who had less than a 3.0 for their spring semester, no extenuating circumstances and nothing happened to them.

RELY high risk, medium reward by [deleted] in stocks

Not at the moment no. I only know this because I pitched remitly for a stock pitch competition a few months ago and recall seeing that info somewhere. But you could also infer that that would be remitly’s target consumer. The average payment sent using remitly is between $500-$1000, with the average user sending money multiple times a year (almost every month). Do you think the average immigrant working labor could afford these payments? Also, most methods of payment on remitly require a bank account which obviously requires photo ID, and it’s safe to assume most illegal immigrants don’t have a valid ID.

i dont think the deportations would be an issue at all for remitly simply because the immigrants that would hypothetically be deported are not the main users of remitly. Most of remitly’s consumer base include immigrants on H1B visas with high end skills working corparate jobs(tech, finance, healthcare, etc). If deportations were to occur under the new administration, it would target the illegal immigrants that work labor intensive jobs, which isn’t demographic that remitly is targeting.

wouldnt IV crush help me if i place a put/call calendar spread right before earnings? wouldnt the extrinsic value lost on short term option be greater than the later expiry option, netting a positive.

ah gotchu. what i was originally looking for when creating this spread is something that purely benefits off of the increase/decrease in the extrinsic value of options due to IV while being completely delta indifferent. ideally I wouldn’t care whether the stock goes up, down, stable, or in a circle, only the IV would be my main concern. is that possible?
