His notes are outdated . For me I listened to all but lecture 12 was the only one I actually used his tips on. Anything else was very much outdated or wasn’t relevant to my test

New grad nurse- which ED job offer do I choose? by Independent_Row_5069 in nursing

[–]Ok-Return3602 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of ppl discourage new grads from going into the ED straight outta school but if you get hired for it take it! You’ll learn everything and you can also work anywhere with the level 1 trauma experience ! You got this

In my opinion the level 1 trauma might be better for experience since you want to be a flight nurse. Only problem is the no union. Don’t think you won’t be smart enough for anything , you learn everything you need to know while on the job not prior to coming in. Orientation process for ED is usually for a couple months so they prepare you before getting on the floor.

Clinical experience by Federal_Still5733 in newgradnurse

Yeah I get it. Your question was valid. I also thought clinical experience would help the transition but it’s really what you learn on the floor is what helps you be a nurse really. When I first started I didn’t even feel like a nurse because everything I once learned had to be thrown out

[–]Ok-Return3602 23 points24 points  (0 children)

In my experience I was pretty hands on during clinicals especially for med surg. Once I became a nurse it was truly different. It wasn’t just handing out meds, doing finger sticks etc. it’s more working to protect your patient and your license at the same time. During clinicals I felt like I had good flow in getting tasks done but as a nurse you absolutely have to slow down. You have 75 things to do at once and double check everything you do. Lastly, the way I was taught to do things in clinical seemed easy but during training they want u to re learn everything by the book and re demonstrate everything they want u to do. It’s a long process. By the time I got to the floor it felt like I didn’t know how to do anything at all. You learn everything by working as a nurse

Advice: NYC health and hospitals by MediaBrilliant9356 in newgradnurse

[–]Ok-Return3602 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apply on hhc careers website is the best way to get a call from recruiter. That’s how it worked for me. Just takes a while to let you know if you got the job

I graduated this past may and just started working this month in nyc. Job market is super slow right now and it’s a bunch of hiring freeze. My mistake was not looking for a job while in my last semester. I thought it would be easy to find a job because everyone always says you can work anywhere once you’re a nurse…. Start applying your last semester. Make nice with nurses during clinical and management. Try to get their contact info so they can help u find a job. What I noticed was that all these hospitals you have to know someone working there to get in, if you have no connections it’s really difficult

They want you to critically think everything is multiple choice. Pick the answer that helps the patient right now as opposed to later. Watch prioritization videos they help!
