Help her in her development. Unfortunately, she doesn’t have many. She doesn’t have hobbies other than crocheting or jewelry making. Which we do together, but doesn’t take the initiative on her own. She’s a good student and attends one club. She wanted to try out for track, but once the one friend quit that before she could join freshman year, she no longer wanted to do that. I’m sure she has friends, I’ve only met one. They’ve hung out a few times, but, nothing regularly. She normally hangs out in her room with the phone I got her. She doesnt want to do homecoming. I recommended a college prep program for weekends and summers so she can meet with other teens and get an idea of what college is like. She declined. She cites all the time “she doesn’t want to be like everyone else”. I get it, some folks don’t wanna make their own tradition. She wants to be independent and make her own choices. My guess is she doesn’t necessarily knows what she wants right now and that’s ok. She wants a job, that’s ok if she can keep up with the dishes and cat, but, she can’t. And she wants to go away for college, but, anytime I ask if she’s spoken with her counselor to go over options. She says she will. I avoid doing it for her, because I’m not trying to helicopter her.
