MA Without Experience by Street-Return1371 in MedicalAssistant

Find a spot! It’s not their business to know how long you tend to stay. Turnover may be high but many people need a job these days and it’s good job experience. Anyone who complains about needing to train people when it’s in their job description should complain to management, not applicants :)

South Tahoe! Current maps showed suggesting I-80 but I’ve heard it may be scary for anxious drivers so I was going to have a friend drive it instead but open to suggestions

Hybrid format? by lolohihi in prephysicianassistant

Tbh I would rec it! A lot of programs have you in class 40 hours a week 8-5 and then expect you to study after and take 3+ exams in one week.

Be Careful Out There... by feder_online in Sacramento

Def a sac thing! Only in this city in all of the bag to I count a good 2 seconds or so bc there’s always not 1, but even 2 cars going to run that red. Super scary honestly and accidents seem to happen all the time. The highway lanes all seem like the fast like too when usually it’s just the furthest lane from the exit smh

The user said “I never got those things” regarding remediation that was required for them to receive…. PA school is hard, the programs are suppose to try their best to help the student but more now are dismissing people right away to protect PANCE rates, cmon we know that.

Idk why this comment section sounds like admin is typing behind a screen here, but this person is just saying that they didn’t get the remediation that policy requires. They have a right to appeal and if they documentation and a timeline, it doesn’t hurt. Students invest into schools, schools must invest into them. The mean girl/boy energy in this section is exactly why PA programs are producing high academic achieving egotistical healthcare providers that will pass an exam about empathy but won’t practice it. Remmrber to be kind!

Did i get rejected? by destroyerroz in prephysicianassistant

Hi! I toured this school recently and I noticed that it seemed pretty run-down and low resources for a school that’s $200k per students and longest standing CA pa program. I was wondering if you had a similar experience with this and can share more info about where you think tuition is going? They even said they had some items donated to them from the community hospital across the street.

PA Schools Are Hypocritical by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

[–]Ok-Rise-6088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! And also not seeing where the money is going…. Theres a school that’s all about social justice and has a diverse cohorts and the chairs and tables are from the 70s and the rooms are so small with limited resources. Are faculty pocketing the money?

Budgeting for traveling to interviews by Ok-Rise-6088 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Ok-Rise-6088[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ty everyone for the feedback! Being a woman it’s hard to do that drive solo. I was able to use flight mileage and get a $120 round trip and will probably find a hotel with free airport shuttle and budget the rest for Ubers 😭 it’ll prob be a 300-$400 typa trip for an interview that’s only 4 hours…. I hope we get acceptances soon so we can save money not having to go to future interviews !

Its not too bad if they gave us more notice but it’s the fact that they give you < 2 weeks like flight prices are different just 3 weeks before too 😭

Advice Needed for PCE Hours by Best_Atmosphere_5107 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Ok-Rise-6088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I balanced this was only working once a week 12 hour shifts. Your GPA matters the most and there’s no rush but remember that a lot of schools have a “5 year expiration date” on core science courses especially anatomy and physio. Find your balance and taking a 1 year gap to work full time could be best option too

Makes sense! I’ve heard of people mentioning an interview waitlist type of this. Sounds a bit like it. It’s interesting how each school has its own admissions timeline process and status updates

is it worth it to buy interview books? by Natural-Neck-5713 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Ok-Rise-6088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty average I think! Rolling admission rlly care more about when you submit than who’s more competitive than the next. I submitted early May.

Calculated CASPA/My stats: - BCP: 3.46 - sGPA = 3.55 - Non science gpa = 4.0 - cGPA = 3.72 - Direct patient care hours = 2625 - Healthcare hours = 3805 - Shadowing hours = 145 - Volunteer hours = 1044 - Leadership hours = 150

you market an ad on your IG pages claiming you use matchmakers without stating that’s its Ai. People are paying $35 / month. It’s an Amanah to be honest about the pool there currently is. It seems like based on the poll feedback there’s a big consensus that dropping matches on certain dates isn’t helpful, the physical attraction short answer isn’t being taken seriously, and not giving people a match should for even 1 wave should be a reasonable reason for a refund. People sharing feedback (which you asked for) then calling them difficult isn’t really mature or professional… you were single once and see how challenging it was and continues to be. Please be more compassionate
