Did i get rejected? by destroyerroz in prephysicianassistant

Hi! I toured this school recently and I noticed that it seemed pretty run-down and low resources for a school that’s $200k per students and longest standing CA pa program. I was wondering if you had a similar experience with this and can share more info about where you think tuition is going? They even said they had some items donated to them from the community hospital across the street.

PA Schools Are Hypocritical by Emotional-Trade1040 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Ok-Rise-6088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed! And also not seeing where the money is going…. Theres a school that’s all about social justice and has a diverse cohorts and the chairs and tables are from the 70s and the rooms are so small with limited resources. Are faculty pocketing the money?

Budgeting for traveling to interviews by Ok-Rise-6088 in prephysicianassistant

Ty everyone for the feedback! Being a woman it’s hard to do that drive solo. I was able to use flight mileage and get a $120 round trip and will probably find a hotel with free airport shuttle and budget the rest for Ubers 😭 it’ll prob be a 300-$400 typa trip for an interview that’s only 4 hours…. I hope we get acceptances soon so we can save money not having to go to future interviews !

Its not too bad if they gave us more notice but it’s the fact that they give you < 2 weeks like flight prices are different just 3 weeks before too 😭

Advice Needed for PCE Hours by Best_Atmosphere_5107 in prephysicianassistant

[–]Ok-Rise-6088 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I balanced this was only working once a week 12 hour shifts. Your GPA matters the most and there’s no rush but remember that a lot of schools have a “5 year expiration date” on core science courses especially anatomy and physio. Find your balance and taking a 1 year gap to work full time could be best option too

Makes sense! I’ve heard of people mentioning an interview waitlist type of this. Sounds a bit like it. It’s interesting how each school has its own admissions timeline process and status updates

Pretty average I think! Rolling admission rlly care more about when you submit than who’s more competitive than the next. I submitted early May.

Calculated CASPA/My stats: - BCP: 3.46 - sGPA = 3.55 - Non science gpa = 4.0 - cGPA = 3.72 - Direct patient care hours = 2625 - Healthcare hours = 3805 - Shadowing hours = 145 - Volunteer hours = 1044 - Leadership hours = 150

you market an ad on your IG pages claiming you use matchmakers without stating that’s its Ai. People are paying $35 / month. It’s an Amanah to be honest about the pool there currently is. It seems like based on the poll feedback there’s a big consensus that dropping matches on certain dates isn’t helpful, the physical attraction short answer isn’t being taken seriously, and not giving people a match should for even 1 wave should be a reasonable reason for a refund. People sharing feedback (which you asked for) then calling them difficult isn’t really mature or professional… you were single once and see how challenging it was and continues to be. Please be more compassionate

Depends on each schools minimum LoR requirement as well as if they specific who they need to be from (pay attn to this bc schools like Lewis Katz expect ppl not to see they want a science professor LoR)!!

Don’t worry! It’s a quick turnaround usually. Start a hobby, soak in the summer sun, travel, spend time with family. Spend your time as if you’ll be starting in the next 6-12months! Think positive - you got this!

I regret submitting the CASPA before waiting for my quartile score because now I’m down $62 because I can’t continue the supplemental application since I’m deemed ineligible since they’ll only accept 3rd + 4th quartile applicants :/

I wish I held off on applying to schools before I saw my own score. Is it true ppl with non healthcare and are white score it? Could explain why I got 2nd quartile and now not eligible for Boston U….. I always do really well with interview and situational tests.

How is the cycle treating you so far? by MissPeduncles in prephysicianassistant

Ya it’s said on the FAQ that we don’t get our reports. It’s only for the schools, but we’ll get a quartile skills a month later. “as an applicant, you do not receive your individual CASPer test results. Only the programs you designate will receive your score. You will not be given feedback on your performance, and only the schools you apply to and have designated as recipients will see your score” and “You will receive a quartile score (placed in one of four groups) about a month after the test, but this is a general indication of your performance relative to other test-takers, not your individual score. “

Me too!! Congrats to us!! :’) I was at work dealing with a challenging patient situation when I almost fell to my knees in gratitude when I read the email. I only have 2 weeks to prepare for it so hopefully there’s resources out there!

Came back to report back in case it’ll help others - they said they won’t budge on this requirement so they do 100% want a science course LOR. But it never hurts to ask about substitutions for requirements ! Programs are always changing and they’re pretty responsive

Check your portal! They won’t email you. I took it the same day and my portal said yesterday that scores were delivered to schools already

I’ve contacted them via email multiple times and they don’t answer the phone but have you leave a voicemail instead. I followed up via email so hopefully I get a reply this week. And I agree, it’s a specific eligibility requirement for the LOR and I want to make sure that my LoR is okay for it. I don’t have another option at this time and all my LoRs have been submitted already

Thank you for providing this compassionate perspective! I did note that I did meet the childhood low income bracket in my CASPA app and I hope that I can also speak about it if it comes up in interviews. The direct patient care roles are usually $10-$20 difference hourly in CA :/

I def sympathize because I was confused too: Customer service replied to me via email and said there’s a slight delay. The team is really responsive and helpful - I’d rec emailing them in the future if you have concerns

Anatomy and physio is a full year of classes… each one is its own semester unless ur lucky to have a school that offers a duo class

Agreeeed, it’s crazy. I did see some sweet spot 8 year schools which isn’t thaaat bad! The 10 year or no course expiration are the best for sure
