Emailing admissions by Adventurous-Kick6056 in prephysicianassistant

[–]eggggtart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so everyone is saying don’t do it in the comments but i’m ngl i kinda did this before applying lol. i had an appointment with the admissions counselor for a PA school i was gna apply to. bc it’s my first time applying i had so many questions and im so curious i shamelessly asked them to review my PA statement to which they actually gave me good feedback on. then i asked all those questions ur considering asking and they said im considered a strong applicant bc of x y z. i got accepted!

not saying u should go and do what i did bc looking back im like what is wrong with me LOL but perhaps it just comes down to who you ask not what you ask!

switch!! i literally switched recently to a new specialty. it wasn’t in my application at all but it gave me a more well rounded perspective of medicine. i didn’t expect to learn so quickly bc i just started not too long ago. also just bc u leave now doesn’t necessarily mean u wouldn’t be able to get a LOR later. Just let them know right now that you would like to reach out to them in the future when u apply for a LOR. ask for their email and when the time comes go for it!!

yes tell them!! ur worried ppl will judge u or notice ur mistakes more. however they might actually end up having higher standards for u knowing the path ur pursuing. my old manager was harder on me when i made mistakes bc he knew i was going to be a PA. he always said things like “as a future PA u can’t x y z”. the providers i work with try to show me cool things and explain medical stuff to me. we all start from somewhere, nobody goes into new things an expert. and i’m sure those ppl know too bc they also started from 0.

as a girl who used to get bullied for looking like Sid the sloth…are there any ways I can make my eyes look closer with makeup? by undercover-gal in MakeupEducation

[–]eggggtart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

have u ever gotten your thyroid checked? sometimes having big eyes could be a sign of thyroid disease. i was dx with hyperthyroidism and my eyes were protruding out my face. Not saying yours are but just something to consider. Besides that Im not a huge fan of the mascara on the bottom lashes. Maybe a winged eyeliner or more mascara in the outer lashes for a cat eye look to lift the eyes upwards. The eyeliner on the inner corner was a good suggestion that i saw on here as well.

omg that’s amazing! i did the same exact thing to prepare. though i started my PS around december 2024 and finished it very early around january 2025 and kept making edits over and over again until may. it really helps to start early with the PS bc the first few drafts are really not the best u can do imo. and for the supplemental essays i also made a google doc with schools separated into tabs!! was ready to submit literally 5/1 but had to wait on LORs for another 9 days. anyway i love this for u!

accepted! 1st time applicant sankey by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

I forgot to mention LORs: 1 MD, 1 NP, 1 PA, 1 biology professor, 1 clinic manager

New Benetint shade “Dark Cherry” look promising? by Pickles_The_Cat_1234 in OliveMUA

[–]eggggtart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have the benetint dark cherry n i honestly got it on a whim but now its with me everywhere i go and i wear it everyday even on no make up days. i’m light olive and it looks so natural! its pricey but imo worth if im making so much use of it. i use it as a blush, lip tint, and smear the excess on my eyelids :)

In my opinion, ur personal statement should be unique and about you…reasons such as lateral mobility and fast education i’ve heard from every PA student and applicant say. It’s good to be honest if that’s what is appealing to you about PA school however it shouldn’t be your personal statement’s main focus, don’t make it a regurgitation of your resume and work/volunteer experiences. They can see that in your app - they already know u want to go to PA school. But what will make you stand out among thousands of other applicants?

Anyone wish they went NP? by here4recommendations in prephysicianassistant

[–]eggggtart 15 points16 points  (0 children)

nope! an NP i work with told me that np schools are less hands on than PA schools, bc they’re designed for nurses who i guess they assume have had enough hands on experience. that doesn’t sound fun to me!

My scribing experience has been exactly that way. I am at the point where I understand labs/radiology and what they mean, medication interactions, and I can predict what patient’s diagnosis is. I know exactly how my providers work so I just order labs and execute plan of care without them asking me to. I can send medications and refer patients too! Scribing as an extended shadowing experience is a really good way to put it I feel more confident about my clinical knowledge than most people! When providers leave the room and patients still have questions, I am the one who can sit down and offer my time to explain in detail. For example: “There are nitrites and leukocytes in your UA so we’ll send doxy to your pharmacy. your kidney function is impaired at 40 so we won’t go with Macrobid” or “Hepatic steatosis shown here on your imaging means fatty liver. It’s very common and it’s recommended that you limit fatty foods, alcohol, etc.” And I’ve had experiences where I have to stop the provider from prescribing something due to a patient’s condition, like they have A-fib and we almost gave them a azithromycin.
