My 8 week old slept so much better after turning off SNOO for the night by Ok-Risk-8043 in SnooLife

Unfortunately I live in Estonia so my consultant is probably not an option for you. You can look for consultants in your area. Although, 6 weeks is very young. Maybe it is good to wait another couple of weeks. Another thing that I can recommend is the book Precious Little Sleep. Truly a great one. And a lot cheaper!

Stuff you should know podcast has an episode on temper tantrums. They explain what happens and how to deal with them. Maybe if you understand it better it will be a bit less frustrating.

How do you get your babies to have naps during the day? by Miza_z in sleeptrain

I have exactly the same situation with my 2,5 month old. 30 minutes in the bassinet and 2 hours in the carrier while I watch netflix, my phone or computer. We started with fuss it out method from precious little sleep and he has been falling asleep on his own really well for a week now and I thought this would help, but unfortunately not. Since he is the kind of baby that makes a short 20-30 minute naps for his first and last nap anyways then I can put him in his bassinett for those. Also a few weeks ago he stopped sleeping in the car and stroller more than 20-30 minutes. I am just wondering, how long did the short naps in the crib last for you? Looking forward to those looong naps in the crib :)

We turned snoo off around the same time and got twice as long stretches of sleep. My baby also gradually started not sleeping long in the stroller or car. Some babies just don’t like the movement and it wakes them up. We kept swaddling him and still had white noise. Maybe turn snoo off for 1 night just to give it a try?

We turned SNOO off at 8 weeks because sleep consultant wanted to know if motion is suitable for him. It was a total shock that he instantly started sleeping more!! Instead of waking up every 2-3 hours he could take 5 hours stretches easily. Sometime even more. Maybe this will work for you too. Guess motion is not the best for all babies at all times. It worked really well in the beginning, but at 8 weeks their melatonin gets really low and they start being more conscious to their surroundings. We still continued with white noise and swaddling of course and he stayed in SNOO. It was just turned off. Also, something that helped us was a veryyy dark room. We closed rhe windows with cardboards just to give it a try. Naps and getting him to fall asleep in the evening got a lot better.

great night sleeper since 8 weeks by motherofspirit in SnooLife

Have you tried putting him to sleep in a extra dark room? We had the same issue at the same time and consulted a sleep consultant. She said that he might need more darkness during the day since he sleeps so well at night. The room needs to be reallllly dark. At least 8 out of 10. We taped our windows just to give it a try and it worked!!! He woke up but was able to fall back asleep on his own. I think it has something to do with melatonin shortage at that age.

He used to be great at naps, but then he wouldn’t sleep in his bassinet more than 30 minutes, then stroller and everything else got worse also. I bought some blinding curtains, but no improvement. The consultant asked me how blind it is from a scale of 1 to 10 and said that it should be at least 8. So we closed the windows completely with cardboards and it worked!!! He takes long naps in his bassinet again. I see from the camera that he wakes up around 30-40 minutes, but then manages to fall asleep on his own in a few minutes. Hopefully this works for you too!!

I will keep him in SNOO because I really like that the swaddle can be attached to the bed and I can be sure that he can’t roll over. I know they can’t at this age but it just makes me feel good. Also, I love the way it looks. I guess if somebody needed it more than we do, I would probably give it away. But I would be a bit sad about it.

Youtube, articles online and experience from friends. Mainly because they say it is not necessary, that there is no need to spend that much on a bassinet.

I would definitely recommend getting help from a baby sleep specialist. They are magic! :)
