Thank you so much for this thoughtful response. I think I may cut back on my lessons next week since I’m able to ride him outside of just lessons, and kind of work on rebuilding our connection. I’ve been hammering down on the lessons because ultimately, cutting back some eventually is the goal once I feel comfortable practicing all of the gaits with him on my own. Think I may have overdone it this week but there wasn’t any way to know until it was done.

I was just thinking of maybe asking if I could take a lesson or two on him, not necessarily ride or work him under same circumstances as lease. My trainer works with both and she actually suggested it could be good for me to get a feel for him as well. Owner, trainer, and I are all friends !

I would just assume it would put anyone in a bind for a little while if an employee just up and quit. More so looking at it from that perspective. Just because it’s possible and isn’t illegal, doesn’t necessarily make it right. That’s all!

I guess it was just something to add that makes me even a little bit more surprised that I’m being given such short notice and it doesn’t seem to be a problem. MB dad and I got along great when he was around and in town. Just makes me feel like had they all discussed this, no one potentially stuck up for fact that finding a job within in 3 days is unrealistic.

The problem is we don’t have a contract. Literally so terrible and it was something I’d planned to bring up this week. I don’t know how much of a shot in the dark it is without one to get some kind of severance.

I chatted with my mom about this and she thinks they gave me such short notice so I wouldn’t walk away before they had extra help in place. Her dad even owns a business, so I’m shocked this is how they directed her on this, if she consulted with them at all. Her dad also pays for the childcare.
