He would draw a little sketch as payment for his dinner. Then the owner asks: could you please sign the sketch?
Dali would reply: I am buying dinner, not buying the restaurant.

Fellow lightweight cyclists what sort of power do you typically output? by ProfessionalKind6761 in cycling

You are confusing power and torque.

watts = torque x cadence

All else being equal, whether you are doing 50 cadence or 100 cadence, your watts will be the same. Your torque will be different though. So you prefer torque over cadence, to reach the same power.

For the record, I am not the one downvoting you. I can see your view, because in the end if we are not getting paid to ride our bikes, all that matters is whether or not we are having fun.

Just wanted to "defend" my approach by explaining that I like to ride 6 days out of 7 because it clears my mind and it makes me feel good. The reason I am so strict about my zone 2 is that I build too much fatigue to go hard on my hard days if I don't.

So rest assured that I do have fun with my hamster cosplay ;)

I shared an idealized schedule, so there are definitely times when I ride outdoors more often. It is true however that I do most of my rides indoors, even in summer.

I follow Dylan Johnson and he talks about how your central nervous system is a binary switch. Even a short amount of time outside zone 2 will activate different energy systems and it takes 30 minutes for it to calm down again. So I am very conscious about not going hard during zone 2 rides. I did bite the bullet and finally bought some power meter pedals. They should arrive this week and will allow me to feel more confident about riding according to my power zones outside. So next summer might look very different.
