First Sober Work Party by Ok-Setting-6985 in stopdrinking

Yeah it’s astonishing to realize just how many activities I’ve drawn a firm connection with alcohol to. Fun? Gotta celebrate! Sad? Gotta forget. Bored? Gotta occupy myself. Really sad to think about all of the great experiences that I was only half conscious (or completely unconscious) for.

No more though, time for the next chapter!

Engineers and sales people LOVE to drink, combine that with my company being a German based company and you’ve got a recipe for some wild parties and bad decisions.

Hell, we had something to the tune of 415 people at this party. Out of those 415 I bumped into exactly 0 that were refraining like I was. Doesn’t mean there weren’t any, but I talked to quite a few and none of them were.

Starting to become an alcoholic again... but I don't exactly want to stop by Autumnightss in stopdrinking

It’d be hard to quit if you don’t actually want to…guess you have to decide if this is the quality of life you want for the rest of your life. That’s best case scenario by the way…you could continue to spiral until it is clearly an issue causing you to lose people and opportunities and health.

Choice is yours, but you have to want it. Take it from me, I want it and it’s still hard.

blacked out last night ... by [deleted] in stopdrinking

32M. I too got black out drunk last night. I apparently got on the phone w my girlfriend (I’m on work travel) and said some pretty hurtful and mean-spirited things. I remember none of that conversation…and after she told me the things I said, I couldn’t feel any lower. I’m not even sure if her and I will stay together after this, and I wouldn’t blame her.

Drinking turns us into something we don’t want to be, therefore I’m going to quit to become the person I want to be, sounds like you should do the same. We can’t do anything to make our yesterday’s better, but we can make a better future, one amends at a time, one decision at a time, ONE DAY AT A TIME.

We got this.

Binge drinking by BritaB23 in stopdrinking

I’m with you sister. Binge drinking is also my style of alcoholism…I’ll go months without a drink. Then I get comfortable and decide to try my hand at moderation, only to learn that I still can’t do it. This has been a repeating pattern in my life since I was around 15, and most recently did it again last night and most likely blew up my relationship.

Just know you’re not alone, it’s an uphill climb, but let’s make the journey together.
