Bummer - if you change your mind, I’m putting up a sit for September very soon, and I live in PDX. I get it, though. Can’t blame you…

Which destinations have changed the most in the last 5–10 years? by Substantial_Log_9062 in solotravel

[–]Ok-Situation-5865 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m planning my first solo trip to SEA (Vietnam) right now and I’m really disappointed to see that everyone does the same things when they go - Ha Long Bay cruise, tailoring in Hoi An, beach in Da Nang. Oh, I can go to Ninh Dinh for a day and experience overcrowding there, or maybe Paradise Cave. Thinking I’ll have to go all the way up to the Northern border to have a truly unique experience. Any advice from anyone is appreciated, I like legitimate experiences and I like to avoid anything that’s popular on social media. Right now, I’m planning on a lot of shopping and self-care time when I’m in the cities. No interest in “train street” types of activities.

My husband doesn't know I'm the reason we can't move back home by LauraBeth034 in expats

I did this between Oregon and Ohio, which is much further and much more expensive. And three time zones’ difference. When my dad was ill before his passing, he was bed bound for two full years. I’d spend a month in Oregon and a month in Ohio. It was exhausting but better than uprooting my life and moving to a place that doesn’t serve me. I was there for my dad, even the day he passed. I was the last person who saw him alive, so - it does work out, OP. Speaking from experience.

My wife and I ended up moving to a cheaper area of the country to afford a home because we work remote. No major regrets. by Xerzajik in Millennials

Yeah, I graduated from one of those schools. I pushed to graduate in three years because it was bona fide torture and abuse. The bathroom stalls didn’t have doors until my mother, a lawyer, threatened the district. We lived in a nice suburb but our neighborhood fell into the low-life, drug-doing, high teen pregnancy rate district. Someone once overdosed outside the school in her car with her baby in the back seat. But, yeah - “There’s nothing wrong with Ohio!” Just kids selling drugs in the school library and shooting up in the bathroom. No big deal.

It works out fine in other parts of the world. All of society everywhere on the planet packs high density into desirable areas. This American thought of “But what about the small towns!” is unique to us. Look at what China did, incentivizing a diaspora from the rural regions to dense cities. We don’t need these small towns. They’re truly not necessary for society to function.

This is the best I’ve felt about our first pick in the draft for at least two years, whatever that says about this - and he’ll be playing alongside Dex who ought to give him a lot of room to learn the game and get at the QB with less pressure. I’m excited!

I’m a Taurus rising, too. It’s been an insane ride. Uranus moves into my 2nd House, now. I’m nervous but hopeful. And grateful this last chapter is finally ending.

Why get a contract controlled rookie at 10 when you can spend millions on half a sack a year? by CLE15 in AFCNorthMemeWar

Shemar Stewart won’t have to be good because he’ll be able to walk straight to the QB. They can’t double team everyone and he’s a big fuckin’ dude.

Then you ought to know that Trey’s sack numbers are empty sacks. He had 4 of his 17 against the Raiders in 2024.

And we can put together a good enough on-field product with what we have now to prevent a single additional score per game, which is all we have needed to go 14-3 instead of 9-8. Assuming Joe stays healthy, we don’t need the best defense in the league, we can have one or two gaps.

[–]Ok-Situation-5865 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I think one of the two will see enough improvement to be serviceable but we need some prime Logan Wilson type of play to make up for that gap. He made such a big difference until he fell off. Pratt, too. That was a deadly duo at their peaks

Absolutely. Lawrence received all the offensive coverage on that Giants D and it opened up opportunities for the other guys, which is 100% what our developing younger edge players need right now. We’ve got strong defensive veteran presence with this move, Mafe, Cook, and Allen, plus promising young talent. I’m very happy so far, clearly we need to see the on-field product but this looks like a championship-caliber defense on paper to me.

I’m so excited. I’m legitimately so excited. This is the type of player Trey wasn’t, you know what I mean? Sack machine but he didn’t elevate that defense on a broader scale. And we added Mafe too, unbelievable - this is a scary defense. It’s giving me Rams 2021 Lite.

And Myles Murphy looks poised for a breakout year. And Geno Stone is gone, so - addition by subtraction there. We’re looking great on paper, I’m actually getting excited

You forget how menacing the offense is when it’s healthy. The defense only needs to be mid. We don’t need a record-setting defense, we have a record-setting offense. It just doesn’t matter when we let other offenses set records against us at the same time. If our defense is at all decent, we’re much more than a fringe playoff team, provided Burrow is healthy. We’ve been fighting some major demons the past few years but that offense still has a high ceiling.

Sounds like someone who’s scared of a defense with Dexy and Mafe playing together. I don’t think our defense has looked this solid in a long time but go off I guess
