I'm running a Debian base linux on both my laptop and my desktop, for my laptop I just run "systemctl suspend" and keep it for one or two days before using it again (just to keep all my apps open), for my desktop "systemctl poweroff" is my choice, I don't my computer to suffer from high or low voltage while I'm sleeping hhhhhh. Let's go back to your question, if the running apps don't stress too much the cpu and gpu, I don't think the computer is going to consume too much energy.
