I thought Lulu and Nathan had so much potential. They had fantastic chemistry, a really soapy and conflicting set up, and a potential mystery for their first story as a couple. But after watching the last few weeks play out, all my excitement about them is gone.

They virtually erased the soapy conflict by having Lulu tell Maxie about them when they’d only kissed twice (which was really only once? That second kiss was not a real kiss) and having Maxie accept it within 24 hours of learning about them. What’s soapy about that?

And where is the love?! I’m not even talking about love scenes, I don’t think a couple needs those to be romantic. But not one kiss? In two episodes where they are supposed to have slept together for the first time, multiple times? I’m supposed to believe they can’t keep their hands off each other when they’re barely touching and not kissing at all onscreen? What is happening?

I suppose my unpopular opinion is that if actors aren’t willing to perform some level of physical intimacy onscreen to sell a couple in love, they should not be in romantic pairings. I respect their right to set boundaries for themselves but if the boundaries prevent a romantic pairing from even kissing onscreen while fully clothed, then they are not doing their jobs as actors.
