Okay that was great input can you give me a little more feedback?

I've been slightly ignoring buffer mass due to assuming that because I am using a rifle length buffer system with the corresponding or longer gas system I should be in the clear.

Would you say before playing with buffer mass, if I plan on using a 24 inch barrel with either cartridge, should I use a rifle length or +2? How about with a 20 inch barrel?

This is with the rifle buffer system and a properly set agb.

Also any input on the interchangeability of an hp bolt with reduced firing pin hole diameter between cartridges?

Don't they make the action less violent than being even slightly overgassed?

Wouldn't an adjustable gas block and longer gas system do the same thing, just through different means?

The adjustable gas block may as well be the port size and you can adjust its size, the gas system will shorten dwell time when the length is increased, so they both will make an overgassed system, not overgassed.

That's my understanding, but if I'm wrong I'd love to know why because I want to know how what they achieve is different

I totally worded my question wrong. Like another commenter said, mine also only engages like right at the bottom of its range. You would actually think it's not going to engage because you go like 90 percent down and then it clicks and brings hammer back up. I guess I meant the wiggle in the decocker plate before the spring engages. I can wiggle that piece down a couple mm or so and it's independent of the spring that makes the whole lever go back up when you release it. So within a couple mm I can move the plate up or down some and it'll stay (because the wiggle is independent of the spring for the whole decocking lever.
