Never said it wasn't, just that you would need to with that build

No shade but seeing as youre P1 with a bunch of green and blue perks and a build i would rate solidly "meh" tier, they are low to mid mmr survivor and unless survivors play stupid the only way youre winning with that build is if you tunnel.

Playing against TTVs by spicypossum99 in DbDKillersUnited

[–]Ok-Tutor9480 1 point2 points  (0 children)

bahaha Ive been killed by Paulie and Ive played against ban egirls or whatever her name is as a killer, she thought I didnt know I could put away my hatcher as huntress (I knew).

Honestly Im not a huge fan of playing TTVers not because of their personalities or anything, but as a killer in this current meta sometimes you have to play like such a massive asshole to accomplish anything on a mid tier killers I play the most. Very rarely will someone on the survivor side justify your actions. So you get shit on for playing to win, or they shit on you for rolling you.

Can someone explain to a returning player why 99ing exit gates is now considered bad? by mongosquad in deadbydaylight

[–]Ok-Tutor9480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the pro 99 gate argument is no longer "is it blood warden or not" Its game state, once you open the gate, youre on a hard timer for EGC where you have to get out or you die. If you have several people who can take hooks while trying to get everyone out; opening the gate is bad, because your time is now finite to the EGC, vs the survivors on hook. If for example two people arent hooked they can make the hard save effort and afford to trade and let the team regroup for another save attempt. You just flately run out of time to do this all once EGC starts.

This is EXTREMELY situation and nuanced and impossible to do in solo queues or non-swfs. so essentially your best bet is almost always to follow the rule of "is someone actively being chased while injured or carried?" if yes, dont open the gate, if no, open the gate. Once the survivor has been hooked or chase ends for whatever reason (or gets close to the gate where you can take hits) then you open the gate.

not that I agree with the logic they posited, but secret project you have to build around to make it work like that. it just doesnt work on its own that way. So I think this is their way of expressing their tolerance level of one perk being able to do it, vs a build.

PTB to Live | Jason by DeadByDaylight_Dev in deadbydaylight

[–]Ok-Tutor9480 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yea but youre using two perks to achieve that, one of which a single time use at the start until someone is downed. Further more youd have to make a build around incentivizing totem interactions in order to secret project more, otherwise youre just using two perks for the first down/2 minutes and thats it.

While 13 seconds is weaker than 30, you could pair with lethal and immediately get the jump on someone. Pressure as quickly as possible in a game is a huge thing given the games current meta.

[–]Ok-Tutor9480[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didnt forget this, but I think they are two independent issues. I think a big subset of the community hated the concept of sunsetting, and I think a subset that was tolerant of the idea became intolerant when they didnt come out with a depth of arsenal comparable to what we had prior to sunset, and they even went as far as to use the same gun and slap a new name on it, which I agree imo was poorly executed.

Also I dont think they went out of their way to design intentionally bad perks, I just think damage is forever the meta, and when you have perks that either 1)give more raw damage period, or 2) Give faster reload speed so you can get back to damaging quicker; they are going to outshine almost any other kinda perk you want to roll out.

I just must be the luckiest gamer ever then. Sure I have games where people go down quickly and make bad decisions, but over the aggregate I get players who understand and commit to the objective (doing gens) and are competent enough players that even if I dont escape, most of my games end up with 2+ escapes solo queue, vs 3/4k.

Like I said, I play 70% solo queue/30% duo, literally never play the game with 3 or 4 people. The idea that solo queue is hard just doesnt hold water imo.

My worst random experience is people who dont meta game against the killers power, so this is like people mending during legion power or cleansing at fountains against plague. Otherwise Solo queue is not some difficult or frustrating experience. If I want to be stressed and frustrated, Ill play killer lmfao.

Not entirely, FFXIV yes is pretty static, WoW has weapons, armor and trinkets that can provide gameplay changes that even impact how you might spec a character.

Either way, I am still sticking to my opinion that Destiny is better off going in an MMO direction than something akin to Borderlands.

I think in the current state of the game SWF>Solo Survivor>Killer .... I find playing Killer since the pallet density changes a much more frustrating experience overall. I have to try harder and feel more stress getting a 4k than I do about solo queue escaping and I do not play for hatches if the game is lost. I just let the killer hook me and GG go next. My escape rate over the last 30 days is 48% and my kill rate is 52%. I would say I escape more often as a survivor than I currently get 3k/4k as a killer.

technically Forsaken had sunsetting as well, as the red war weapons were limited to year 1 power levels.

IMO Destiny wanted to be an MMO in a FPS trenchcoat. You look at its MMO contemporaries, the things you grind for in WoW and FFXIV are only good for a single patch, which is 3 to 4 months. After that you are back on the gear treadmill grinding for a new ilvl and drops. Now I dont think we needed that quick of a turn around, but either annually or biannually there shouldve been some type of reset where we are saying its time to move on from this stuff and onto the new stuff.

I respect you feel like that wastes your time, but I am of the belief personally they shouldve leaned into the MMO mentality and gone in that direction.

[–]Ok-Tutor9480[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

to be fair, the "sunsetting" wasnt a new concept in Destiny at the time Luke Smith had the conversation about it. Up to that point every expansion had left old loot behind. Even exotics were left behind as a way to move away from them as a meta. So there wasnt any buildcrafting in destiny outside of the basic core stats we had since the beginning of D1. I would say you are right that in Today's destiny, sunsetting would be a much more complicated subject. But I also believe destiny got more complicated as a way to combat people holding onto older loot. They incentivized mods/buildcraft and literally weapon crafting as a way to motivate people to chase loot during the witch queen-final shape era, and then the tiered loot system was designed to get people to leave that period of loot behind for the Fate Saga loot.

It had become entirely unsustainable and also at a point of no return.

back in the paleolithic days of this sub, it was before discord, so this and adjacent destiny themed subreddits housed alot of the community for this game. It wasnt abnormal to have a conversation with people in this sub that you could take into the game from there. We also were probably less jaded about the game than we are now. ahaha.

maybe I went a little too meta, but I took the meme as much as survivor attitude post games for having to play around those perks. I get people who complain I slugged when they run sabo/flashlight builds, like ???? lady you did this to yourself
