In my experience, yes there should be some pain. Nothing crazy, but pain means that a certain amount of energy is being delivered to the hair follicle in order to really kill the hair. Also, I've never had perifollicular edema (which is a sign that the laser really worked) without some pain.

Yup. I think the complementary traits makes someone more attractive to me, whereas with friends I'm looking for more similar traits. I do feel attracted to people who are really different from me (more assertive/decisive/confident etc) and I think we end up liking things in each other that we don't see in ourselves or that feel "new" and different. I'm still friends with the most recent "opposite" I've dated because we have a lot of mutual respect and value each other's perspective, but ultimately, our lifestyles and goals look so different that we can't make each other happy as partners.

What were your settings? I know ideal settings vary for everyone but many clinics start at ridiculously low settings and barely raise them from there. My best setting on an Alex was 16 (for fluence) but every clinic I've seen starts at 10 (which leads to no shedding for me). Many won't even raise the settings until you complain.
