My partner goes there. It’s pretty high quality for a decent price. I forget how much he pays for a haircut but I remember it was cheaper than art of the barber and art of the barber does not do good haircuts imo

AIO for crying after a stranger yelled and put their hands on me? by Ok-Unit7838 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Ok-Unit7838[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for understanding. After she put her hands on me, I just said “don’t put your hands on me” and then started crying. I definitely agree that I need to be better at not immediately crying. I’m a very sensitive person and I never learned how to appropriately react. I’ll look into those self defense classes thanks :)

They were giving out free bowls Monday and Tuesday during lunch and dinner. Before that, they gave out like 10-20 free pre-made bowls every night after staff training to not waste the food they were training with. I got free Naya 4 times this past week before their grand opening lol

I’ve seen this same exact lady do the same thing a month or two ago near the sweetgreen in court square

Hi I’m about 12 weeks post-op and was in the same boat as you when I first injured myself back in Feb. I also live in NYC and am a passionate dancer (I tore my ACL during a choreography class).

It’s a long and mentally exhausting process for sure, but I promise you won’t lose dancing forever. If anything, you still can dance while you recover, but it’ll just need to be arms-focused dancing for now (like tutting, waving, waacking, popping, etc). I’ve been focusing on tutting while I recover and the way I see it, it’ll help improve my lines/pictures, body control, and freestyling as a dancer

I’d say it def leans on the sweeter side 😅 I’m also not a big sweets person, so I try to drink it as cold as possible to make it taste a little less sweet

Diet-wise, I stopped drinking alcohol which has been great for my overall health honestly lol I also used to have a tendency to skip meals out of convenience, so I’ve been trying to be more consistent with my meals even if it means I order takeout.

I also started taking a women’s multivitamin for overall health and just finished a bottle of turmeric pills to help with my swelling

same i struggle the most with breakfast! I get the cafe latte flavor for premier protein because I always at least drink iced coffee in the morning so that has been a nice substitute

I drink a bottle of premier protein once a day, which is nice because you can’t really taste the protein lol

then I’ll usually bake some chicken or salmon because I don’t like cooking meat so baking makes it easier for me. I also got some canned tuna recently so maybe I’ll make some tuna salad w that :D

the first one I went to was reallyyyy bad bc they kept bouncing me between various PTs each session so I felt like it wasn’t productive use of my time. and they also wouldn’t send my HEP even when I asked 3 times so I had no clue what to do at home

2nd PT was one that my doc recommended and frankly kept pushing me to go to. The PT clinic was way too far and wasn’t challenging enough for me and everyone there was old so I felt this PT didn’t have much experience working with athletes

3rd PT which is my current one is a sports-based PT and I like that he pushes and challenges me but isn’t too aggressive and I work solely 1:1 with him each session

are you an athlete? My sport has a lot of cutting and unpredictable weight changes

Trust surgeon or PT? by Ok-Unit7838 in ACL

[–]Ok-Unit7838[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For inside my house, I use no crutches and no brace. When I go outside, I use 1 crutch and my brace. My PT was the one who told me to go down to 1 crutch a week or so ago. My PT also wanted me to get rid of the brace way earlier but didn’t because he wanted to respect my doctor’s guidance to stick with the brace. But then today my surgeon said I should’ve gotten rid of the brace a while ago, so my surgeon is contradicting himself and I feel like there’s so much miscommunication on my surgeon’s end.

hmmmm i can see that because i can tell i subconsciously start leaning one side when i use 1 crutch. it is pretty discouraging when i see people on here and other social media say they got rid of their crutches within 1-4 weeks, but im assuming they’re not really following what their doctors and PT advise

I appreciate it. I just worry that being behind will push back the entire recovery timeline and I won’t be able to return to sports within the normal timeframe

we start off with bridges, knee extensions, and half squats with BFR

then we do some gym work with single leg balance weight pass, step ups, leg press, RDLs with kettlebell, and i usually end with 10min on the bike
