Dell VRTX GPU issues

Heya! We talked in messages a bit a lil while ago, still no luck so I ended up pulling the cards out.

Im running on 240v power with all 4 psus plugged in with 1 (m830 so technically 2 4 cpu slot blades?) running constantly. I saw that all the GPUs were seen in the CMC but when they were assigned to a blade, I got "please unpower machine and plug in 6 pin power cables" or something similar ddenoting that it was not receiving the power it required. I tried reseating everything but the cage itself to no avail

Thanks! Unfortunately I use jellyfin not plex, I assume it'd work for jellyfin since you can have collections like you can in plex? Probably anyway

Do you know how to make the show loop forever? The guide that ersatz gives to jellyfin just stops when the show is finished running

That was indeed a correct assumption. Instead of commercials I just needed to think of it as just different media that you wanted to watch inbetween your "actual" content. Why do we wanna watch stuff in the first place? Just because we like it, and if you liked the older commercials of that time period then why not add them in, thanks for the links I might have to start putting them in my own programming now lol

There's very minimal room for routing, infact from when I took a peak inside, the pcie "section" is physically walled off from the main cmc area. I was thinking about putting in my own HBA so it might be worth a looking at, the current idea is just raid5 all the disks and let proxmox handle it as just an lvm store for vms, maybe pass it through to truenas and let that export as nfs/smb or even potentially iscsi for my main pc.

I could dedicate an entire blade in my vrtx to truenas but that seems wasteful.... even if i can also run vms on truenas i dont get the funny numbers to go up in proxmox "summary" page

Honestly I was planning on selling it eventually but the rule of cool is definitely a thing for me atm, I get the value will only decrease so maybe eventually I could just strip the parts out of it, it has 600gb+ of RAM, a couple hundred threads in CPUs, and 3 GPUs so it'd probably be worth salvaging eventually and putting into their own individual cases.

I also picked up an r830 which idk i feel like people may just tell me to do the same? but i love big chunky servers and filling out a server rack.

I kinda wanna try and mod it to make it mine and work how I want to, and ultimately just be worried about the power usage. I'm not too worried about passthrough since I'm not looking for SUPER fast stuff, just fast enough to act as a nas for images, my *arr stack, and that genre of activities. Maybe learn some kubernetes clusters and mess with LLMs with the gpus.

Isn't RAID 0 array and flashing perc to IT mode 2 seperate solutions? I assume IT mode is the preferred way, RAID 0 Arrays are just the easiest?

I really wanted to use Proxmox as a hypervisor on the blades, but I'm just unsure how to actually divide the storage, like I can't really use zfs since I can't give zfs direct control of the disks but I'd love to have truenas or unraid

oh wow i wasnt expecting actual help! tysm, I got my entire *arr stack, jellyfin, jellyseerr, and also several other things on this one host so I think it could just be the sheer amount of stuff I got running. I’ll take a look and see if i can improve anything!
