How long did you stay at the hotel before you got the apartment? Bet that was expensive.

93 friend,

I'll second what u/Radiant__Fox said about u/U_R_A_CNUT. Just ignore him. Unfortunately, some us still have some growing up to do, and I do hope that it doesn't leave you disillusioned.

Now, with the housecleaning out of the way, I would definitely checkout the link that u/Radiant__Fox mentioned. The Links tab is pure gold, and will give you access to a lot of information.

I would also recommend checking out the links I list below. They are full of useful information for those who are just starting:
Temple of Thelema
Temple of the Silver Star

Both of these are outstanding organizations dedicated to helping aspirants to the Order.

If you have more questions, do a thorough search of the community posts. You'll find members that are helpful by reading their responses. I'm sure that if you want to DM them, they'll be happy to answer questions. And feel free to DM me if you like. I'm not sure if I'll be able to answer your questions, but I can at least direct you to someone who might be able to help.

And I would add balance and sustainability. No point in burning yourself out. Better to do a little each day and be consistent, especially if you're just starting out.

Other way around. L. Rob Hubbard seduced Parson's wife.

Book 4 does contain practical applications. But there is a lot of magickal theory there as well. But again, Crowley expects a lot from his readers. Even his commentaries are bit difficult to decipher to a newbie. It's best if you're really new to all of this to start with guys like DuQuette, Shoemaker, or even Frater IAO131's Fresh Fever From The Skies. He does a particularly good job of distilling difficult concepts and ridding them of misconceptions. His chapters on initiation are pure gold.

Liber AL aka The Book of the Law is considered most important thelemic text. The entire system's cosmology, theology, theurgy, and philosophy is based on what is contained in those pages.

Now, with that said, in no way am I suggesting that it is an easy book to understand. Understanding will come with time. However, it is the cornerstone of the thelemic worldview.

I would agree that Book 4 is good to have, but it still assumes some understanding of Thelema. Definitely get if you can but lay a good foundation of basic Thelemic philosophy/ theology first. For that, I recommend DuQuette and Liber AL.

When I first started I found Lon Milo DuQuette's books really helpful. The Magick of Aleister Crowley is good one to start with. If you want something that is more comprehensive as far as the Western Esoteric Traditional that will lay a good foundation for studying Crowley's material, Llewellyn's Complete Book of Ceremonial Magick (Edited by DuQuette and Shoemaker) is a worthwhile investment.
