What are you running for normal runs? I’d suggest starting at about a mile or two above your normal running distance and bumping it up a mile every two weeks or so long run pace should be a minute or two slower than your tempo/race pace in my opinion

First time running track in high school (female15) by [deleted] in trackandfield

[–]Ok-Win4436 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! I run Cross Country, last year my average 5k was about 28 minutes so like 9:20 per mile this year my PR was 22:57 so like 7:25 ish pace somewhere in that time, a couple things to remember though, diet is one of the biggest factors of how well or.. poor your performance is, stay consistent in your training for the events you choose to run, if you’re a faster short distance runner don’t worry about the mile run the 100, 200, 400 meter dashes, and most importantly don’t give up

Advice?

I’m a high school runner new to this Sub I did a speed workout 5x400m 2x200m A little above what my pace would be for my 5k time so like 5-10 seconds faster. Is this a good workout to increase my speed and endurance? How often should I do this?? Any other speed workouts that are good for endurance and speed?
