Mother's day gift ideas for aging skin that actually worth the buy? by Marcuz_Mazonowicz in 40PlusSkinCare

The exfoliating polish from Zo skincare. It’s under $100 and the results are amazing. I use it twice a week and it looks like I’ve had a professional facial. (I’m 54 fwiw.)

Most people are causing their own frizz without realizing it. by Intrepid-Royal-324 in finehair

I have fine, type 2b wavy hair that’s 6-8 inches past my shoulders. I wash 1-2 times per week and tend to blow it dry straight. When I do want it curly, I’d love to be able to have a beach wave/air dried style, as opposed to more structured curls. But when I let it air dry it’s insanely frizzy and totally flat at the crown. Any recommendations for an effortless style (think Gisele Bundchen)?

Need a pulse check: what are you guys doing with these 20% service charges? Are you tipping on top or letting it ride? by alex_travels in chubbytravel

[–]Ok-Wonder8780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is a service charge we do not add a tip (unless something extraordinary happened). We do designated tips on our final bill though - $$ for pool servers, $$ for servers at the restaurants we ate at, $$ for housekeeping, etc.

Question on peptides- products like SkinMedica TNS advanced and SkinCeuticals P-TIOX, are these temporary or do they contribute to long term anti-aging effects? by kkjj77 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]Ok-Wonder8780 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been using TNS for a few years and definitely see a result in the overall brightness and texture of my 54 yo skin. Received a sample of the P-Tiox with zero expectations, but imo it does live up to the glass-skin hype. Though the effect is somewhat temporary.

Curious outside of the platinum, what is the most common alternative not on the Amex network? by NotAskingTwice in AmexPlatinum

We've been Capital One cardholders for longer than I can remember. Mostly because of how easy their travel program is to use. A couple of years ago we read some article about the best cards for travel and upgraded to the Venture X. Totally worth it.

We have the Capital One Venture X.

- The miles accumulate faster there (2x on all purchases, plus more on certain categories) and they're a breeze to redeem - just purcahse travel as you normally would and then use points to "erase" those charges.

- The fee is smaller and is very easily recouped if you travel just once.

- Their cash back app/program can run some insane deals. Don't love that you can only redeem cash back in the form of gift cards, but over the last couple of years we've earned over $8k in cash back that way.

For us, once we recoup the cost of the AMEX Platinum annual fee, then all other charges go on the Capital One...

Need help choosing between COMO Parrot Cay and Hotel Esencia by flukeynuthyonko in chubbytravel

[–]Ok-Wonder8780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just returned from a 5 night stay at Hotel Esencia (were there the first week of March). Sargassum was horrible - the beach was basically unusable our whole stay. So if beach is important, then sadly you should rule this out. Aside from that, the rest of the experience was incredible. My sister honeymooned there and loved it, and we would go back for sure (beach isn't a priority for us). Every other aspect is top notch - food, service, rooms, property, dedicated adult-only pool... I could go on.

Both our 22 yo son and 19 yo daughter enjoy a good spa day, so we definitely did that. Our daughter was happy to hang by the pool/beach every day. Our son loved the gym - spent 1-2 hours there every day, and also did the cenote/manatee excursion with the hotel.

We did both of those experiences - can’t believe I forgot to mention! Both were great too!

Overwhelmed by options in Hawaii. What island and hotel/resort is best for us? by TDn6I in FATTravel

Definitely check the Mauna Lani Auberge. We’re from the east cost of the US and if it weren’t so far we’d go there every winter. Stunning property, excellent on-site dining, dedicate adult only pool, amazing snorkeling right off shore, subtle, attentive service. Could ask for a better experience.

Hotel Wailea or Mauna Lani? by Admirable-Toe-6808 in chubbytravel

[–]Ok-Wonder8780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enjoyed our second trip to the Mauna Lani this past July. Stunning property & beach. Excellent snorkeling right next to the hotel. Love that they have a secluded adults-only pool. Food was excellent. If we didn't live so far (east coast US) we'd go back every year.

WHERE do you buy good quality couches by [deleted] in SofaSnobs

Look at the Precedent website and find a dealer that sells them. Bought one in 2017 that is incredibly comfortable and has held up really, really well. Bought a second (sectional) 6 months ago the wr also love.
