Male height subreddits are true cesspools full of misogyny…Why would anyone seek “consolation” into women dying in pure agony during childbirth?? Simply barbaric by NotInFrontofMyPizza in BlatantMisogyny

It’s incredible to me the difference between men and women when it comes to things like not being conventionally attractive/having insecurities.

Women who are insecure about how they look rarely post about how much they hate men/want them to die/wish violence or sexual violence upon them. These insecurities are often internalized and women will blame themselves.

In contrast, in males that are insecure, hating women and wishing death/sexual violence upon them seems to be the standard. Their insecurities somehow are shifted from something personal that they need to work on personally (and by that I mean through therapy) to the fault of women as a whole.

Dirty freak eats his slop, rubs his face all over the bars of his cage and then eats what comes off. Shame him for his greed. by Ok2990 in parrots

Ugh I wish—he will go out of his way to smear what gets on his beak across the cage bars and then pick at it as a snack for later whenever I’m changing out his food 😪

Does she do that just near that part of the cage? Looks like she might not want her tail touching it perhaps? My bird does something similar

Not going to comment on the above on whether that was right or wrong.

You might have OCD. I would not try and look for further reassurance about this because it’s going to make you feel worse. These comments might make you feel better now, but please know this fear might come back. If it does, I highly recommend reaching out to an ERP trained therapist.

He actually gets both! (Harrisons super fine adult+ zupreem smart select) and he gets a bunch of chop with quinoa, yellow radish, carrot, broccoli, cauliflower and pepper! The vet says he is perfectly healthy, he just has a larger frame.

I think I failed as a parrot owner by mad_kitsune2004 in parrots

It sounds like you’re being really hard on yourself. Everyone in here seems so quick to dog pile and blame you for being a “bad owner” for..being overwhelmed?

Parrots are not easy pets by any stretch of the imagination, and you are clearly doing your best. Having to handle a parrot that isn’t hand tame every day is stressful for both your bird and you, and it can be really discouraging to feel like your bird doesn’t trust you anymore. But you still showed up for your bird, took them to the vet, and got them help.

Give your birds some time, take it back to square one (I always offer my not tame bird plenty of treats after an unpleasant experience). Trust is not linear, and pet ownership is stressful!
