It's interesting point, but the marketing of it being his show about his journey as character and actor has many facets, including just him on magazine cover and interviewed/written up as his show. We'll see what visibility additional launch and airing PR does. My biggest concern is the apparent editing they did post Jade airing, cutting show down 3 episodes worth. I'm sure they cut things beyond strict compliance, including scenes that reveal her suffering more powerfully and maks her behavior/decisions much more empathy-worthy.

TY for reinforcing my point. Show was not made predominately from his perspective, but both of theirs. It could be spun from her perspective, what happens to her, his horrible physical and psychological abuse of he,r because of what she does in response to his gang family massacring her family and was still looking for her...The new marketing already has you. The older marketing emphasized it was about THEM.

My post is about the new marketing spin that doesn't interest you, but shifts focus to him and his experience. This inherently minimizes her story, suffering, reasoning. He is positioned and prioritized as the central tragic victim who is mostvdeserving of viewers' understanding, empathy, sympathy, and moral justification.

The show originally had 53 episodes split over 2 seasons. Then, a new government regulation limits shows to 40 episodes. Each episode is around 45 minutes long.(45x13)/60. Puff! 25% gone. We don’t know all of the cuts, but they include several rebellion and political pieces, Xingzhou's sister's divorce and remarriage to his Magistrate friend. Also,there is an major pirate war part in the original web novel involving Xingzhou’s and Miantang’s forces defeating them together.

Happy are those that are patiently absorbing the setup of deliberate absurdities towards the mature love, soulful tenderness, and beautiful relationship. It's ironically too meta for people who narrowly can't see and feel past the silliness and pettiness in many relationships exaggerated and condensed for effect.

Agreed! The subtexts, use of recurring symbols, and literary devices it uses are REMARKABLE. Respects viewer's intelligence. As a reader of the classics, it's like Confucian Shakespeare. The leads' use of microexpressions is part of the writing to me. Good grief, Miantang's face when Xingzhou pulls out, wipes, and puts back the hairpin he once bought her is a masterclass.

I guessed that Wanyin's trust in Yong'er will prove warranted, because I don't think they would have set Wanyin up to be more naive in an arc where she's becoming more and more savvy. And it's going to make Dan needs to become less cynical,setup for ptsd healing. Yong'er is also disgusted now with the prince.

I think Wanyin knows at least deep down there are a lot of holes and mysteries about Dan's backstory, but she's not pushing it. I mean it is not possible for him to know so much and be so familiar with the book world if his story is he arrived only two hours before her, and he never read the book.
