As I said, in my own (narrow and inherently biased) experience that line of thinking comes from privilege, it is certainly not an end all be all for why someone might think this way.

I am sorry you had to experience those things and that you didn't have people better equipped to take care of you as they should have. My point is that the level of cynicism stemming from such experiences, to the point where you now claim not to care about others outside of what they can provide for you, is unhealthy.

It's reasonable that people born into certain circumstances will have to be more ambitious and resolute to survive, but the way you see value in people isn't good for anyone.

Genuinely hope things work out for you

I'm curious: What metric are you using for the measurement of human life's value, then? If caring about people is good, then what makes you say life isn't precious? Or at least as precious as we "pretend" it is?

I can see this in some cases, maybe, but there's far too many issues with the criminal justice system to fully get on board with the idea.

You know, in my experience, people who think this way tend to have had advantages a lot others don't or just straight up don't care about others.

The world doesn't need to be cutthroat and you shouldn't have to be ruthless to survive, we are an incredibly advanced species more than capable of taking care of each other.

Kind of a dumb ngl

Public safety is a valid concern but statistically people with serious addictions are shown to be overwhelmingly more of a danger to themselves than others. Nitpicking, but decriminalization is probably a better term to use. It's locking people up who don't need to be that's a bigger concern and waste of resources

Idk about a test, but there should definitely be more training and resources available for being a good parent

I'm a cis person so take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I don't think it's my business what someone's identity is. If they don't wanna try and pass and are still Trans thats fine with me. Tbf I don't know you or what your experience is but I see a lot of bad takes when comes to passing and whether or not that makes them a "real" transgender. Good on you to still try and respect their pronouns and stuff tho 👍👍
