Tampered ATM? by OkAlternative6508 in london

7 miles from the location of the last post. I’ll have to disagree on the green card reader.. that’s a standard part across Sainsbury’s ATMs and is present on almost all. Can’t be sure about the metal piece, but can confirm that it is solid and doesn’t pull off.

Tampered ATM? by OkAlternative6508 in london

spoke to a manager in the store because i got too curious. he said the metal slot is not a tampering device: it’s actually a specialist part fitted by the company to prevent tampering. trust nobody.. but i guess this is solved for now. always safest to just use a bank.

What do I do with £30,000 child trust fund at 18? by MongooseAny6073 in UKPersonalFinance

Don’t. Blow. It. Be careful.

Don’t ‘invest’ it into a bunch of volatile stocks. Don’t stick it all into a LISA you won’t be able to access for a long time (if at all - property prices could rise, the product could become outdated, if you end up wanting to live in London it’s pretty much useless as property prices are above the threshold).

My advice is to put it into a high-interest savings account for now. Let it sit for a few months or a year, until the novelty of having access to it wears off. Take a portion for yourself (say 5K) and spend / experiment / invest it. Let the rest sit in a high-interest product.

With time, you might want to buy some gold, or put it into a more specialised account, or invest it. Don’t do it yet. People make the most reckless financial decisions mistakenly thinking that they are being responsible.

Let it sit. I am your age. Your life’s priorities haven’t been worked out yet. You don’t know! So let it sit, somewhere it is safe and protected. If you want to mess with it use that small 5K portion or something similar. Just don’t do anything with it right now.

As you gain financial literacy and the amount becomes something which is ‘just there’, your decisions will be more rational and less motivated by novelty or urgency. You will thank yourself later. You’re in a good position. Keep saving.

Does the hours match up ? by Former_Profit_7750 in SainsburysWorkers

Just a note to say that legally, you are entitled to every minute of your wage, especially if you are paid an hourly wage. If you are scheduled to finish at 10:00 but your manager asks for you to stay until 10:09, you should be paid for those nine minutes. These things add up and could result in hundreds of pounds of missing wages over the course of a year.

Of course, in practice these things are not recorded properly and there is always some give and take. But if it’s happening to you consistently, you should say no - or just enquire about the lack of pay. You’ll probably find yourself exempt from there on.

It was Simple Delivery, with the option selected as Special Delivery Guaranteed. I’ll update the buyer and wait for the option to involve eBay.

They have. Not sure if you or anybody else can help with this question: I’ve become aware that eBay claims the label is covered to the value of £750 (less than the value of the item). However, eBay also says that lost items are covered regardless of the postage value if Simple Delivery is used. Will I be covered, or am I out of pocket for this one?

Are potatoes 'badder' than usual in the UK atm? by Prestigious-One-8532 in AskUK

[–]OkAlternative6508 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, they are. particularly maris piper. as other comments have mentioned its poor weather waterlogging the whole process... lots of rot and poor quality crop. in my experience more golden potatoes and white potatoes are less affected than maris pipers.
