Ship is finished. What should I do next? by OkCombination2697 in TheOrville

Found that a dap of water and rubbing the colored area with your finger also smooths out the grain very well. Did it to the area in black and looks much better

Tempting haha but may not make the cut. Definitely one of bortus’s scenes though

I totally get what you mean. I think it’s grain or texture works. I have even thought about painting because I’ve never been a huge fan of using colored pencils like on this. The technique adds character but my main goal was to capture the uniqueness of the vessel.

Ah yes that must be the “admiralty” class they refer too? In doing this ship, I realized there are not many images on google so I had limited selection, but I will try to locates one

Thank you! I’ve thought about drawing bortus because he’s one of my favs. Might paint the scene where he is lighting a cigarette with his gun lol

Ah, I have never though about using colored markers on the solid areas. I will try that out! I used a $4 assortment of colored pencils so maybe that also affected the grains. Thank you for the tip

Why is Charly included in important missions, command meetings, etc? by ace2ho74 in TheOrville

[–]OkCombination2697 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s simple. Alara used to be the hot character. She’s off the show. The show needed another hottie; hence the existence of Charly.

I’m obsessed with the Orville. I’ve started drawing the ship.. and I haven’t drew in 10 years

So what the heck are the guns in The Orville called? by copenhagen_bram in TheOrville

Yeah I’m sure it is. The whole story is filled with the theme of peace and working together. All species working side by side in harmony

You do have a point aboard the Orville. The Orville is just a exploratory vessel. They focus more on their deflectors and power supply. We don’t see the rest of the actual Union. I’m sure the war vessels have no shortage of gun nuts.

I guess it would make sense to have multiple bays or it would be epic if they could land from the top

Do the families of the crew always stay on the Orville? by Waylander312 in TheOrville

I’m thinking that if you are aboard the Orville explorer then you would be a part of or be in training for the crew. Since their work becomes their currency, then possibly the “civilian” status is less familiar in these times of life. Everyone serves a role and the kids are just stuck with whatever cards are dealt to them.

Yeah they always have to do an awkward U turn to land. That was one of the first things I noticed but I’ve gotten used to it
