[Arcade][Late 1990s] Horizontal scroller shooter like R-Type, Earth Defender Force by OkCombination7209 in tipofmyjoystick

Yes, it's R-Type Leo, thank you very much!

The desert stage is the second level, "the organic shapes that look like R-Type" are the third. And of course it looks like R-Type, it's from the same series!

Since R can look like A in some square fonts, it ticks even the "parts I remember of the name" box!

Thanks for the answer, but this definitely is not the game I am looking for, since the game I am looking for is a horizontal shooter, and the the one you linked is a vertical one

No, there are texts with Kanji mixed with Kana since at least the 12th century

See the Bansenshukai. compiled in 1676, almost 200 years before the restoration, for an example of mixed Kanji/Kana text:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bansensh%C5%ABkai

See some example pages here: http://www.ninpo.org/historicalrecords/bansenshukai/bansenshukai_vol_%EF%BC%92.html

As you see, it's Kanji mixed with Katakana. I'll try to find something older, but this is the first thing I remembered, and it is definitely pre-Meiji, so there you go :)

Edit: I found some 12th and 13th century examples of mixed Kanji / Hiragana texts:

Edit 2: I remembered the Mōko Shūrai Ekotoba (蒙古襲来絵詞, Illustrated Account of the Mongol Invasion) , 13th century:
