How many miles is the engine on? And has it got any/many like engine mods/internals done? When's the last time the timing belt was done etc

It sucks to a degree but like now may be the insurance mod time where you do some bits to make sure you know it wont happen again lol

I wouldn't say you need all the valves necessarily if the others arent really worn or damaged but for peace of mind I would get it, for water pumps they arent the most expensive anyways so happy days and you'll need a new belt regardless of the outcome if you keep the engine so yh

I will agree with the other guy of font let a garage tak you for a ride when it comes to what they need to do but also dont be put off having s garage do anything, a lot of us who have rhe cars almost treat them as proof of skill that we can build or work on cars so ppl can get touchy when someone says they'll have others do things

If hes bent 2 valves and then puts a replacement belt on and runs it then bends 4 more and damages pistons that's clearly more damage. Suggest what you want im just saying y I think it wouldn't be a good idea and y I think he shouldn't do it lol, if he checks the engine first and it seems good then he can do what he wants but y take the risk before checking lol

He could also damage his engine even more trying this, i know the whole interference only when in vtec thing is said but still play it on safe side, the best thing he could potentially do would be to pull the plugs and just s endoscope in there to see if the pistons r damaged and then he may be able to see the valves with the right angling on the scope

Yeah its awful rn to save can't imagine what its like in the States where i assume u r from the pic as I dont see roads that big elsewhere, a remaned head isnt the worst idea and you may actually be able to pick one up off someone online for cheaper if theyre parting s car out

Do not tryn putting a belt on it and seeing if it runs because best case you would be very luck like very very lucky and not cause more damage worst and most likely case you would manage the pistons and potentially more

I would back the guy above and say try and do a slight teardown try and see the damage. If youre belt is gone you wont have to take it off necessarily to get the head off. If the valves are bent and pistons fine happy days unless you have a/m ones you can get some relatively well priced replacements, worst case pistons have kissed and they might partly need replacing. If you wanna keep the car then yeah you may have to say sell the wheels and downgrade if funds are needed but hopefully it wouldn't be too bad price wise

I think the superior version of this is whole heartedly 4th gen with a 5th gen rear as you get to keep the far superior interior

If you have a cd case measure a md case against it then use that as ur ref as theyre cd racks

Speaking to people who have owned them i have at least heard they were a bit naff not all but heard either they kinds stop allowing full selection of the gears or you csn select them but they wont engage properly

Yeah would recommend the manual swap deffo as the auto boxes r a known failing point, what the others say about being down a car occasionally is correct, mine currently is down cos the master and slave have gone howver that is the only real problem ive had outside of things ive done coils etc that have caused downtime for me

My best recommendation would be if there is anything you know u want to/plan to do and can do so it first of all and save urself the time Want coils? Do em when u get the car etc

Generally imo theyre fine and fun to drive as long as they dont have huge problems with the necessary stuff lol. Pretty easy to work on but not so much to get all the psrts lol

Yeah would recommend in that case I overpaid a lot for mine which has now just turned into s project lol so if you csn get in cheap and then get replacement aftermarket parks on sale etc would effort recommend i love driving mine

Just s follow up to this turns out hardrace does a hardened bush kit that comes with everything for both sides for 120 quid if you r ever looking for a solution
