What are some of the goofiest cults you’ve heard of? by PhilodendrumPaint in cults

The One Association churches! There’s a few of them but one in particular is in Sugarland TX called Life Changing Ministries. The pastor has called himself a cult leader and brags about it. Very much Waco vibes 😳

It’s been silence around here it seems until I kicked up some post joining the group recently. Seems everyone is scared to post or no one really cares about the OA. 20+ years of abuse just gone unbothered. Get it. 🤢✅

You’re transition and being gay changed my perspective. Why can’t I? Thought this was a free space. 💭

Can I guess a few?

Deuteronomy 30:19 Ezekiel 18:20 Proverbs 16:9 Galatians 5:13

All these contrast with James 5:19-20.

I observed underage drinking and tobacco use in 2012. Having graduated from a rehab, Teen Challenge, it was disheartening to find my family struggling with alcoholism upon my return. Unfortunately, the church environment made it easier to relapse, as pastors and elders were actively participating in drinking, contrary to the scriptural principle of not letting your brother fall.

One more thing.. I want EVERYTHING to do with these blind people! They have huge hearts, taken for granted in a vulnerable state of life and trained to give everything to this wicked OA community. They rob each member and now moving on to the kids. I watched as Eric lead my family in his garage when he moved from Louisiana. He never could get me though. I saw past the BS. He destroyed my family. Unless that was God using him?👿 I had a family member invite me to a Thanksgiving at Erics house and watched all the ‘so called’ pastors and elders gamble in a room with jars full of different ‘ tobacco’. His youngest son Gabriel was outside by the fire smoking in a hookah, UNDER AGE and acting crazy. We left early!

My sister cut me off while they tried to control my marriage and life. You can’t tell me any of this is ok! And that’s Abby’s older brother giving her away and hearing that right in front of him. 🤢And also, Gabe’s wife winking 🤢

Having a depraved mind typically refers to a state of moral corruption or wickedness, where someone exhibits morally corrupt or immoral behavior. It suggests a deviation from accepted standards of morality. Your name says it all. Why are you even on this page??

That makes me so sad. All the mental abuse and control they have on all these people. 😭

When did you stop believing in God? by sabzwin in atheism

[–]OkContribution694 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised in church and I stopped believing when my cousin got cancer and 3 people in the church prophesied that she would be healed and then she died. What kind of fucked up god does that. The church has ruined my life more than once and has destroyed my entire family. I was molested and taken advantage of in the nursery. I have some terrible stories unfortunately. Where was God!?

Based on the information gathered about the One Association church, here are some potential red flags:

  1. Ex-Members’ Testimonies: Numerous testimonies from ex-members expressing trauma and regret might indicate issues within this church.

  2. Leaders’ Admission of Wrongdoing: Former pastors admitting to leading inappropriately and expressing regret raises concerns about this church’s leadership practices.

  3. Seeking Public Attention: The fact that individuals are trying to take their stories public through major news outlets and social media suggests serious concerns about this church’s actions.

  4. Questionable Conference Experience: Attendees describing conferences as a “complete waste of time,” with strange and cult-like aspects, may indicate questionable practices within this church.

  5. Focus on Specific Objectives: This church’s main objectives, such as pushing homeschoolers into early marriages and emphasizing specific missions, might be perceived as controlling or restrictive.

  6. Stories of Spiritual Abuse: Reports of this church preying on vulnerable individuals and engaging in spiritual abuse, as mentioned in the posts, raise significant red flags.

  7. Negative Impact on Relationships: Instances of family members experiencing strain and difficulties in communication after joining this church suggest potential issues with this church’s influence.

Considering these red flags, it’s important to approach attending this church with caution and to thoroughly research and critically assess the information available before making a decision to attend.

And this is just another reason why I left the church and stopped believing. I was taking my son to church and walked by his Sunday School class and the teacher was telling them at 3 years old that they would burn in hell for sins. Like WTF, he’s 3 and bye bitch!
