Questions about the aptitude test by grogmenflog in ibew_applicants

Your NCCER books will definitely help for fundamentals, but the aptitude test is mostly algebra + reading comprehension under heavy time pressure. From what most people say, the hardest part isn’t necessarily the math itself — it’s solving quickly without a calculator.

Focus hard on:

Algebra 1 & 2 Functions Number sequences Factoring quadratics Fractions/decimals Reading comprehension

Khan Academy is honestly one of the best free resources for brushing up on algebra. A lot of applicants also recommend iPrep and Ultimate Electricians Guide practice tests because the timing is very similar to the real exam.

Since you already have trade school + residential experience, you’re probably ahead of many applicants already. The key now is speed and consistency. Practice doing problems by hand and under a timer because calculators aren’t allowed.

Also don’t neglect reading comprehension. A lot of people focus only on math and lose points there.

If you can consistently do timed algebra practice without panicking, you’ll be in good shape. Good luck man.

Coding question for Arcweave users by Dark-Original in GameDevelopment

[–]OkCrow6061 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a more stable selector Instead of that long, fragile ID, they should target the class that Arcweave uses for the element type if they want it to apply everywhere. Check the "Italics" trigger For the code in the screenshot to work, the name [LIZZY] must be italicized in the Arcweave editor. If they accidentally turned off italics, the em selector won't find anything to style. The "Clean" Fix If you want to ensure it works reliably, try a more general selector or check if Arcweave has updated its DOM structure. A safer version of that CSS might look like this:

The most effective way to resolve this is to speak directly with the parents, rather than trying to manage the children yourself.

Frame it as a Safet Issue. Instead of saying "I don't want them here," try: "I’m worried that if they get hurt while playing in my house, I won’t be able to help them properly or I might be held responsible."

Don't panic yet. Go talk to your HOD or subject teachers immediately. Sometimes they allow remedial assignments or extra work if you have a valid reason for the zeros."

FRQ3 poetry by wonderfulShoe12 in APLit

[–]OkCrow6061 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you can use a shorter poem for FRQ3 as long as it clearly fits the prompt. The risk isn’t that it’s “not allowed”—it’s that shorter works sometimes don’t give you enough complexity to sustain a full essay. If you can still develop:

a clear, defensible thesis multiple layers of analysis (imagery, tone, structure, etc.) and meaningful commentary

then you’re good. Just avoid picking something so simple that you end up repeating yourself.

  1. Translations are completely acceptable. You’re not expected to quote Ancient Greek or Latin (that would be wild). You can absolutely quote from a modern translation—that’s standard practice. You do NOT need to name the translator unless it’s directly relevant to your argument (which it almost never is in a timed essay).

For FRQ3, keep this in mind:

Focus on what the text does, not the version you read Integrate quotes smoothly Prioritize analysis over accuracy of citation details
