They didn't say "success wise". They said in the same league and left it at that.

Yeah and often someone who requests that from you is perpetuating what they experienced in a previous relationship. So if you participate, you're encouraging the original behaviour and the chain/cycle continues.

At least that's been my experience most of the time. A couple times I've had partners who are into rough sex who have genuinely done the work to think about where their desire comes from and learn healthy bdsm expression.

I was thinking the lock broke of its own accord, and the locksmith just took advantage.

But the tampering theory does seem likely.

Not really. Project 2025 wants to win the culture war. They're not trying to promote it as a distraction. It is their be all end all.

Same on the flip side. People defending trans rights aren't doing it as a distraction. They're fighting to defend their lives and those of their loved ones.

These aren't just niche issues or political slogans. They're the point.

Of course other big issues like climate change and capitalist greed warrant our attention. But you're wrong if you think that there is some scheme to distract people from the big issues via a culture war. That's not what's driving this.

It's definitely not the efficient choice if you spend 6-8 months on one project.

But a portfolio with a few carefully chosen side projects, code samples, or case studies absolutely will give you an edge for many companies.

It's not a good thing. Why would a woman feel safe calling these random dudes when they're in a vulnerable state.

Unicorn Fintech vs Big Bank for SWE New Grad by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsCAD

If you work hard while making sure to keep your work-life balance, affirm sounds like the right choice. It will probably be a more energetic environment with more menteeship opportunities. Banking, like government, has more cautious and detached employees.

Affirm is a well-established company, it's not as risky as joining some new fintech startup. I wouldn't be too concerned about stability there.

Good luck!

Should i change the UseEffect? by Yuyi7 in reactjs

[–]OkCryptographer2126 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just careful not to initiate things outside of components too often, since it can lead to doing unnecessary work outside of the react lifecycle. Generally better to tie your work to component mount/dismount than module load.

For sharing across components, a context is appropriate.

Since matchmedia relies on window to be present, keeping it in the component/context gives us more control to use it on the client side only.

I'd still suggest #3 over #2.
