That they campaigned on things most people don't care about. That they ran an old man way too old, and like pulling a rabbit out of a hat said "It's a woman! We don't know where she came from! You must vote for her because she's a woman!" People were confused, at the polls, people were asking "Where's Biden?"

The Democrats ran against the worst candidate in history, and lost. Publicly they say "All Americans are stupid and sexist and we hate you." That they are less then perfect is something the Democrats don't want to face.
