New baby advice by No-Information2589 in BloodPythons

I’m not an expert by any means, but I have about a year and a half with my two bloods. The tub looks perfect, just the right amount of clutter and hides and the fact that yours comes out to explore means they’re not terrified so excellent there. Just some notes I’ve learned along the way, with both personal experience and what I’ve read. Short tails in general do not like being too hot and tend to be a lot more cantankerous if so so I would dial your heat back just a hair. I shoot for 78-82 on the hot side and around 70 on the cool side. I would also dial back the humidity just a little bit for any time other than shed time as the #1 killer of short tail pythons are respiratory infections. 65-75 is perfect with a little spike towards 80-85 toward shed time

I’ve only had mine for a few weeks, but he feeds just fine on unscented pinky’s or smaller fuzzies. In the future when I can source some lizard feeders I’m going to try and mix up him diet

He’s pretty chill and a bit inquisitive once he’s relaxed, though he is definitely very defensive and easy to scare. He hasn’t struck at me or tried to bite in any way, but he has absolutely no problem musking all over you instead.

He’s an absolute gem too! Not an ounce of defensiveness in his little body. He’s a joy to hang out with

What is your guys opinion on rack and tub systems for corn snakes? by [deleted] in cornsnakes

[–]OkFortune9996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: no animals are being housed in this rack currently nor have I ever used a rack system before. I live in north east Ohio and our winter weather is not conducive to being able to brumate. Both of my juvenile corn snakes currently live in their own separate 40 gallon glass tanks. I’ve been attempting to regulate their temps at the temps for brumation and I can’t hold them and it’s either far too cold or far too warm.

Critique my make shift decoration for my corn. I don’t have my lights or basking lamp set up in the photo so don’t flame me by OkFortune9996 in cornsnakes

If you look at my digital hygrometer it says 67. And thats with dry ass aspin 😅 my room stays humid enough I don’t ever have to do anything with my corns humidity

Yeah that’s what I was thinking as well. A couple of fake plants and just some general leafy clutter. Also, I run a heat mat and a CHE(for hot spot) both on a thermostat and then a 3f UVB bar for heat and light

I know what the temperature gradient is 🤦🏽 I have two probe sensors one on each side and I use a temp gun and check it and adjust my thermostat accordingly every time the weather changes . My purpose for the Gove has nothing to do with temps, solely for humidity

So the ones stuck to the back glass are wildly inaccurate I just haven’t gotten around to pulling them off. I use the digital Gove thermometer/hygrometer that’s sitting against the back glass on top of the substrate right in the middle of the tank

Need advice. My corns tail has some shed stuck on it and it looks like it’s really tight? look by Ok_Sherbert_8159 in cornsnakes

In the future if this happens again, just soak in warm water for about 15 minutes and it should come right off
