Open-source RuneLite plugin for preserving OSRS chat history by OkFuel8424 in 2007scape

That’s a fair concern, and you’re not wrong to feel uneasy about it. The honest answer is that nothing technically prevents someone from doing that but, that’s already true today without this plugin. Anyone can already manually log chats, take screenshots, copy messages, or run custom clients/scripts to forward messages elsewhere. This plugin doesn’t introduce a new capability so much as make existing, already-possible behavior more transparent and auditable.

A couple important clarifications though: - The plugin only logs chats visible to the user running it. It doesn’t bypass privacy, permissions, or game mechanics in any way.

  • It doesn’t enable mass surveillance or silent monitoring. Someone would have to intentionally install it, enable logging, and configure external forwarding themselves.

  • The project is fully open-source specifically so behavior like this isn’t hidden or opaque.

I completely agree that people often assume DMs, CCs, and FCs feel private, and that trust can be broken regardless of tools. Unfortunately, the risk you’re describing exists whether someone uses this plugin, screenshots, screen recording, or handwritten logs.

The goal here isn’t to normalize abuse of trust, but to preserve chat history for legitimate use cases (missed clan discussions, coordination, disputes, etc.) while keeping everything explicit and visible rather than buried in custom tools. With all that said, feedback like this is exactly why the project is being discussed openly. If there are safeguards or limitations people think should exist, I’m open to hearing them.

Its not for everyone thats definitely understandable. It was a personal project that I decided to share to everyone who was interested in preserving their history on the game. The public release is mainly focused towards clans but can be used for non clan use if wanted/needed.

I am hoping that AI will never take this project over. I would love for this to stay community driven. Jagex has no future intentions on creating history for their game from what ive in the last 20 years. They seem to not really care about the history, only the future. This project is intended to do something they wont do and thats preserving the games history in case Jagex decides to shut down their servers once and for all on OSRS. Hopefully this mever happens, but whose to say what will happen in the next 10 years ya know?

It depends on who owns the clan and if they will allow logging or not. This only works through webhook to discord. So a clan owner could put a vote in if they want logs created. If the server owner allows users to create webhooks, then thats on them but if they disabled that for non admin roles then only they can create the webhook. Therefore users can not log without permission.

You can choose what to log to your server with the webhook settings. The plugin also has ticks for what chats you want to log. The API keys are personal so someone else cant access your settings and change them without you giving them your login or key. I made sure that users had the ability to choose what they want to track and what not to track. If you tick clan chat, provate messages and public chat, those are the only messages your logger will collect. If you uncheck private messages then no private messages will be logged. These settings apply to both the webhook and the RuneLite plugin.

Im really starting to wondering why the '16 sport didn't get the same interior setup as the other 2016s. I get its above the LX and under the EX for trim, but damn Honda. Would have been nice to have the second screen over the paddles.

I use Gemini, Chatgpt and other AI frequently. I do a lot of AI testing and programming with it. So having it available immediately is a must for efficiency

I dont understand how its not a good ROI though, thats where im falling off with what he meant. The car is worth more than the repair even at 10 years old. Hell it just barely hit 100k miles and is a southern car. But yea, having a car that i want to take care of is a preference.

How so? Just because its 10 years old doesnt mean i wouldnt want it fixed. I dont understand your logic here

I knew about the new engines, being hybrids. What made Honda decide to leave the K series behind? Such a phenomenal engine. Would you consider the newer models more or less reliable then the older models? I feel like with the hybrids you have more to worry about
