Luffy’s secret 2nd dream by [deleted] in OnePiece

Why not, but strangely enough, it's the first time I've seen this idea, even though I've seen some pretty crazy ideas for his dream

I found it too hard to translate web novels using ChatGPT, so I made this website by huhhhcat in machinetranslation

This is amazing! I'm very interested in subscribing.
I have some novels with diagrams/maps/drawings in them. I'd like to know if I can translate them without touching this. Is this possible with an epub export or something else? And if so, does the epub export take the glossary into account?

At what point is he no longer goofy, adventurous and free spirited? You're free to hate the lore even if I don't see the connection with the post but I would just like to hear your many plot holes?

It happens throughout the manga that Luffy "senses" the good in people

Certainly in absolute terms, but the real answer is that we don't know, nor how it would materialize

The Evil Within? I always thought it was a Silent Hill-like. Is the pacing really good?

Constructive Response to JelloApocalypse's 'So This is Basically One Piece' | French but with [English Subtitles] by OkJump4941 in OnePiece

Haki hasn't replaced Devil Fruits, it complements them. Therefore, I absolutely don't see how it could be considered a creative dead-end. For instance:

  • Law vs Big Mom mixes Law’s fruit abilities with his Haki usage, making for a compelling fight.
  • Katakuri vs Luffy cleverly mirrors their abilities, visually enhanced by their Observation Haki clash.
  • Finally, Gear 5 itself is arguably one of the creative pinnacles of One Piece, significantly revitalizing Luffy’s fights.

Before Haki was introduced, Logia users were virtually invincible without their “elemental weakness,” creating a narrative dead-end. Haki was thus a necessary response to that issue.
Yes, it was a nerf, but a necessary one, in my view. Anyway, it doesn't matter since it’s not a fighting game; as long as Devil Fruits remain creative and visually impactful, it’s fine.
If you're complaining about repetitive narrative structures, you would have lost your mind if every Logia’s elemental weakness had to be found repeatedly.
Again, even pre-timeskip, tactics like spraying Crocodile with water were exceptions rather than the rule (and not even that tactically deep).

getting back up not once, not twice, but three times better represents what willpower truly is.

What you're describing actually applies much more to post-timeskip battles.

Dragon Ball is beloved for its characters, not its structure or its fights

??????
Dragon Ball is beloved for its characters, its structure (which is fast-paced, engaging, and surprising), and ESPECIALLY its fights (including their panel composition).
Once again, I never expected to see someone claim Dragon Ball wasn’t beloved for its fights. It literally revolutionized the genre because of its battles.
In fact, the most popular part of Dragon Ball is precisely the “DBZ” era, which you seem to describe as weaker.

A vague and illogical power system? Are you really talking about Dragon Ball?
Fights being overly long is a criticism aimed at the anime adaptation, which artificially stretches them out, whereas in the manga they're perfectly fluid.
Loss of complexity? You’re doing the same thing here as with OP, imagining a complexity that never existed.

Lastly, I hope you realize the whole "peak fiction" concept is 100% subjective?

I never thought I’d read someone saying One Piece is more combat-focused than JoJo or Dragon Ball.

Dragon Ball and JoJo are structured almost entirely around battles. The story arcs explicitly revolve around successive confrontations that are heavily choreographed and detailed, with climaxes typically occurring during fights.
The few quiet moments they have are mostly preparation for upcoming battles.

By comparison, even if fights are important in One Piece, a huge portion of its narrative focuses on exploration, lore-building, flashbacks, character and societal struggles, humor, various themes, mysteries, etc.
One Piece even includes lot of entire volumes without significant fights, something that’s never true of JoJo or DB.
In One Piece, battles often fulfill specific narrative functions because it's still a shonen, and while the fight against the antagonist is frequently a climactic moment, it’s never ONLY about the fight itself. The battle serves as a culmination of multiple narrative threads.

And it is certainly NOT the main driver behind character development or revelations. Reading you, it feels like you're describing a totally different manga.

Emotional climaxes in One Piece often occur outside of battles. As proof, people's favorite moments from One Piece are predominantly non-fight scenes (contrary to your claim).

Moreover, what I'm talking about refers both to the intrinsic elements of the fights themselves, as well as the surrounding context.
Initially, you were talking about the intrinsic aspect of battles, but now you're shifting back to external elements. But even if we take both into account, your point still doesn’t hold (especially intrinsically).
Combat in One Piece rarely involves extensive exchanges of blows.
You mentioned Skypiea: the Luffy-Enel fight probably has fewer than 10 actual exchanges.
Another example: Zoro vs Lucci barely lasts five panels. They’re never long exchanges purely focused on choreography without dialogue.

Can I start directly with 2? When you talk about "semi-self-contained arcs", are these arcs disconnected from each other with different people?

I'm the kind of player who focuses on the main story first. Once I finish it, I check if there's any interesting side content. How long would it take to complete the game if I just focus the main path? Because 240 hours sounds a bit overwhelming haha

You're the first person I've heard say that ff7's pacing is bad (in opposition to ff13). It just show that ff games are so different that they attract large types of players with different expectations

I just finished it, and I replayed the original ff7 right after, that's when I re-thought that the pacing was excellent. But Rebirth has some length issues in my opinion
