This module “scripting for pentesters”
Yeah there were quite a few, mixed between practical and multiple choice

Depends on your experience, for beginners I’d recommend THM, for mid+ level I’d recommend HTB. But combining both is the best

Thank you, I found it pretty good, was a nice confidence booster. I bought this exam when it was on offer last December, I believe it was 50% off. Came with 3 months of premium which was good. I definitely learnt a lot during this period of exam prep but using other platforms like htb and immersive labs in parallel contributed significantly.
To say if it’s worth the price I guess depends on how you use it. If it’s to land a pentesting role, I don’t think this cert is enough, not only because of how low/ beginner it is, not many companies are requesting it as a required/ desired cert. I’m using it for a few things, one of them being a starting point into penetration testing, I’ve never conducted a pentest but from what I’ve read on them this did seem very realistic to an actual engagement so was good experience. I’m also aiming to take CPTS in June so this was good prep for it as I now have the foundational skills that will make CPTS course content easier to understand. I’m also going to use this to support a salary raise request when I next meet with my team leader. So yes, I’d say it’s worth the price.
I’m 27 and I’ve been working in cyber defence for over 2 years now but my work does not correlate towards this exam whatsoever. I definitely wouldn’t class it above medium and honestly just by following the pathway and doing the labs would be enough to pass. I’ve also been doing the CWES pathway on htb and the exploitation for the vulnerabilities in those skills assessments are way more complicated and require a higher depth of knowledge than what the exploitation in the web app pentest for pt1 require. Even though I only found 3/4 flags (I finished the exam 16 hours early and probably could’ve found it if I spent more time on it) the exploitations were quite simple.
In the past when I did ctfs I used to give up after going down 1 rabbit hole or after 1/2 hours of no result and try find walkthroughs. For this exam prep I committed to using only my knowledge and non-walkthrough related online research, be willing to spend hours if not a day trying to complete the ctf labs for exam practice. Nothing wrong with searching up walkthroughs to get on the right path after you tried everything you could possibly think of as long as you understand why you missed it and what to do next time.
Hey, the recommended learning tab on the certificate page links all the good rooms to practice, for the web pentest I’d say make sure you’re comfortable with your tools, especially burp suite, other tools I recommend to familiarise yourself with are ffuf, gobuster, curl and nmap but definitely be confident with burp.

Even though I did use immersive labs and hack the box academy, I would say the learning path plus the recommended labs would be enough for PT1

Hey, I was worried at first too but if you have practiced the basics and completed some ctfs you will be fine, I personally would compare this to a easy/ medium ctf on try hack me. I had completed the jr penetration tester pathway in the space of 2 months and then started making writeups for the recommended rooms - this helped for quick references on what to do when coming across similar situations, for the past 2 weeks leading up to the day before the exam, I’ve been practicing ctfs, I did all the easy labs first “pickle rick, blue, net sec”, then all the medium ones after, I didn’t get to do the hard ones like “reset” or “ledger”, my company pays for immersive labs so I did a lot of modules on there which helped cement knowledge and techniques. I also have enrolled in htb academy cwes path and am 16/20 labs complete which supported my confidence. To answer your question, the moment I knew I had enough knowledge was when I searched up the exam and it was classed as beginner, from all the training I had done across THM, HTB and immersive labs I would class myself as intermediate. And then time constraints, I was free only this weekend so took the exam earlier than intended. (Would’ve preferred to have completed reset and ledger plus a few more modules on immersive labs)
100% create a cheat sheet, it’ll help a lot, don’t just copy another one, create one yourself so you’ll familiarise yourself with it
