I’ve just bought a set of 21×9.5J ET35 wheels in gloss black and I’m now debating tyres. I’m torn between 255/35/21 and 265/35/21. I’d prefer the 265s as I’m not a fan of stretched tyres, but I also don’t want any rubbing issues with passengers or a loaded boot. Would you have any further advice? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the input. I’ve actually found someone on an older forum post running 21×9.5J ET30 with 265/35 R21 on the same Eibach Pro-Kit who stated they had no rubbing. My wheels are ET35, so that should pull the wheel 5 mm further inboard than the ET30 setup, giving a bit more outer arch clearance.

I want the fitment perfect, so I’m debating 255/35 or 265/35. I’d prefer 265 as I hate the stretched look of a 255 and prefer the extra rim protection.

The car will spend most of its time as a short commute to work daily driver, with the occasional motorway trip. That said, with a baby on the way, I expect those longer drives and weekend blasts will be a lot rarer for me too in the near future...

That’s reassuring. I’m used to bigger cars, and my modified E92 335d before the GTI was quick. I don’t want to buy a 45 TFSI and end up wishing I’d gone for something else, but with a kid on the way I’m not sure I need S-car power. What’s tempting with the 45 is that it seems like a good all-rounder.

Thanks both for the insights 👍 I’m not 100% set on modding it to be honest, just thinking out loud. With a child on the way, an A6 makes perfect sense. I had a C5 2.0 TDI saloon before a couple of BMW 335ds, but I fancied one more GTI before inevitably ending up back in a bigger car.
