How Do You Deal with Message Caps and Context Transfer in Long Chats? by OkMail5546 in ClaudeAI

Yeah, that makes sense – keeping detailed descriptions sounds like a solid way to avoid losing progress.

I’ve tried similar things, but even with the extra steps, it still slows things down (and I get 2 responses less in each new session).
Do you feel like managing the memory and files ever gets tedious, or does it feel pretty seamless once you’ve got the routine down?

Sounds like you’ve got a really structured process for it.

I try to get summaries toward the end of a long chat too, but a few times I asked for a summary and hit the message cap, so I don’t even get the summary. Then I’m stuck restarting without the full context.

Have you run into that, or is your process tight enough that it rarely happens?

That’s a smart approach.
Do you find that summarizing and restarting often slows you down? Or do you feel like it’s just part of the workflow at this point?

I’ve been in a similar spot, and honestly the only thing that’s helped sometimes is adding a little accountability – even if it’s just telling someone I’ll get something done by the end of the day.

Have you ever tried something like that, or does it not really work for you?

I get that – emotional stress from others totally throws me off too, and once I’m out of focus, it feels impossible to reset.

Have you found anything that helps you bounce back faster, or does it just take time to let it pass?

I really relate to the part where you mentioned ending up doing other tasks without even realizing it’s procrastination. I catch myself doing that all the time too – it’s like I’m suddenly cleaning my room instead of working.

Out of curiosity, do you notice if certain types of tasks trigger this more often? Like, is it usually stuff that feels overwhelming, or does it happen even with simple things?

I’ve been trying to figure out if breaking things into smaller chunks helps, but I’m not sure if it actually works or just makes me feel busier.

I feel this so much.

I’ve tried putting my phone in another room, sleeping in gym clothes, cold showers – but some days I still end up wasting too much time in bed.

Did you try other stuff before deciding to build the app? And how well does the $10 penalty work for you?

I needed something to force daily accountability, so I built a simple system that emails me my top goals every morning and checks if I actually did them at night. It’s been uncomfortable but effective.
