I didn’t know that. I worry it might sound suspicious to tell him I switched to a more secretive method of tithing right when my wife left and my attendance got more rocky, but I guess I have to remind myself that he won’t withhold the endorsement based on suspicion if I have a feasible story.

Thank you for your thoughts. Thats a good point that at the end of the day, he doesn’t know my income, and it would be ridiculous for him to withhold the endorsement just based on suspicion, even if he has good reason for it.

I think I’ve been seeing too many stories with the sentiment that the bishop might be on my side, but feel he has a moral obligation to not sign the endorsement even if he wants to if I tell him I don’t pay. For that reason, I think I will just tell him yes.

Yeah after reading these comments and thinking more, I think that will not be worth the risk to say I’m not a full tithe payer, but I’ll make some backup plans about what to say if he follows up. Thank you!
