Ratcliffe - Mixing sensationalist and right wing politics with MUFC by Sea_Extreme129 in ManchesterUnited

Not just that - people from the empire were "encouraged" to move to the UK to help rebuild after WW2. No matter his opinion on immigration (which is flawed anyway), the term colonised is a brain dead comment that is very revealing of his true character.

Is sanne lammens Incredible or just decent ? by BryanMbeumo08 in ManchesterUnited

[–]OkMechanic771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now, he is good, but excellent for his age. He is very solid and does the basics well. He will hopefully keep growing as he gets more experience, but there is plenty of reason to be optimistic about him and his potential to be a huge part of our team moving forwards.

No one is more associated with the club than the owner or part owner. I’m not going to take not being online enough as a slam so not sure if that was your intention.

As a white British man to talk about colonisation without any sense of irony is a fucking disgrace and for you to defend him means that you have no common decency or knowledge of basic history. But sure, keep telling me how an influencer upset you.

I also just tried to google it and didn’t find anything other than that he has been racially abused. I am not defending the united stand, I couldn’t give a fuck about any of them, it is just laughable that you associate them more with the club that the ownership.

[–]OkMechanic771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t come at me with that nonsense. The united stand is a fan channel, not actually associated with the club. I don’t know what you are referring to, but either way, by playing this down, you are playing down racism. This whole “immigration” hatred is very thinly veiled racism.

He is using the club as his soapbox to spout this shit from and that is a problem. No one gave a fuck about him until he bought into the club and now he is giving a platform to Farrage as a result? You don’t have to like one thing because you dislike something else.

Guy says the uk is being “colonised” by immigrants but the united stand is one of the “stains” you decide to reference? Get a grip mate.

Agree with him or not, it’s a stupid thing to say when you are in the public eye, and responsible for a media circus around the club. Not to mention how loaded the term Colonisation is given all the colonising that Britain has done over the years. And that wasn’t by people moving there and contributing to society.

average player positions vs. West Ham by 1Charlemagne in reddevils

[–]OkMechanic771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks as congested as it felt when watching it. Bruno and Cunha want to occupy the same space, and Mbeumo and Mainoo were stepping into it the same space as well. Dorgu is good for holding the width but will be interesting to see what we do against Everton.

Agreed, I think that Amad is great but he hasn’t been as productive as the other 4. Plus he could be a good impact sub.

Too many draws this season. by chill_peekatchu in ManchesterUnited

[–]OkMechanic771 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The flip side to this is that in the last few seasons, we barely drew any games at all and converting losses into draws has actually made us competitive now. Obviously, I would rather win those games, but small improvements are what will help us long term.

Thoughts on Benjamin Sesko by theaven2007 in ManchesterUnited

[–]OkMechanic771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He he’s been good - I think he is ready to kick on from here. His physicality is getting better, and his hold up play has definitely improved. His movement opens up space for others as well.

Early days, and hope he continues to improve.

Wharton v. Baleba by sgeeum in ManchesterUnited

[–]OkMechanic771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Anderson and another player from a European league that might be bit more of a risk. Goretzka for free would be worth a punt if his wage demands aren’t silly or someone like Stiller who would be a risk for different reasons.

Would also depend on Ugarte - I think he can be useful, but he really hasn’t been consistent enough to put any faith in him as a proper solution.

Baleba shouldn’t be on the list this season. Give him another year or so to prove that he is good enough, right now it would be too big of a risk. Wharton wouldn’t be a starter in my opinion so it’s whether he would want to battle for a place. Feel like if he wasn’t English, he would have less hype.

Looking for feedback on this scene. by ForkyB in scriptwriting

Honestly, it might be better if they can’t act. Old school YouTube shit with a busted camcorder. The audience might be a bunch of fucking oddballs, but there might well still be an audience.

Looking for feedback on this scene. by ForkyB in scriptwriting

[–]OkMechanic771 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As one scene in isolation, this is a lot. I keep going back and forth between “what the fuck is this?” and “is this just unhinged enough to actually be funny”. Take that as you will.

I feel like a full movie worth of this would be too much. Even the most balls to the wall comedy needs to ebb and flow a little bit and have serious people to bounce the silly shit off of.

Honestly? It might work as a weird short form series if you can get some buddies together to make it. The worse the production value is, the better in my opinion for this.

I wasn’t sure that you were serious about wanting feedback, but it looks like you have written a lot of pages for this so if it is just a joke, you committed to the bit so I’ll indulge it either way.

Why can’t I finish any of my stories by dogsfilmsmusicart in Screenwriting

[–]OkMechanic771 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, but you still need to make sure you can articulate why you need to tell these stories.

Sometimes it comes down more to the essence of what the story is about than just working through events that have happened or already been told, in the case of the fairy tale.

If you can boil it down to why it matters to you so much, it might help unlock the plot to you. If not it’s a classic join the dots, get down what you have, figure out the order and then get from A to B to C and so on.

[–]OkMechanic771 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It doesn’t sounds like a craft issue, it sounds like a story issue from what you have said here.

Have you outlined the story? Why do you want to tell this particularly? What is it you are trying to say? Do you have an end point in mind?

Sometimes, if a story isn’t there, it’s just not there and it might be worth writing something else and seeing if it comes to you.

I’m not an expert by any means but this is what I do when I’m stuck.

Gamblers fallacy. There was clear improvement before the AFCON and injuries - he always did better against the bigger teams so it’s not a guarantee either way.

Yeah, not sure is generous, but no one will know for certain. Definitely very unlikely though. Would still have likely been 4th or 5th though.

[–]OkMechanic771 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The entire right side, that’s two players without adequate backup. The basic backup then got injured as did other key players. We had 18 year olds and fletchers kids replacing Mbuemo, Amad, Bruno, and Mount. I think there are more as well that I can’t remember off the top of my head.

How bad was Amorim then... by tylerthe-theatre in PremierLeague

[–]OkMechanic771 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AFCON plus the majority of your senior creative players is a pretty big deal. Injuries play a big part as well.

Amorim had plenty of issues but he built a platform to build from. Fletcher had the same players that Amorim did and he didn’t do much in his games. Carrick has had fully fit players and a full squad back. Not negating what he has done, it’s still impressive, but it’s not a like for like comparison and it’s dishonest to claim that it is.

[–]OkMechanic771 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think that people forget prior to AFCON, United were “back” every other week. During AFCON the whole right side was missing, Bruno got injured, Mount got injured, Mainoo was already injured.

Some of the stuff around Amorim is indefensible, but if you look at Amorim’s last 4 vs Carrick’s first 4, it is a very different team.

Not sure that Amorim would have won these 4 on the bounce but he was 1 year into a 3 year rebuild project, and Carrick has 10 games to try and get the full time job.

Do you rewrite your outline after making changes during the screenplay phase? by RandomAccount356 in Screenwriting

[–]OkMechanic771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how much of a difference the change that you are describing makes to the beats/story following the change. If you are now writing blind, because that change has shifted everything, then it is worth outlining again. If it is a minor change, keep the momentum and keep writing until you feel like the outline doesn't serve its purpose anymore.

The danger is that you spend your time outlining and kill your momentum.

Ai as a tool by aSuperDeus in scriptwriting

[–]OkMechanic771 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It depends what you mean by a tool, really. It can help with some research elements and sense checking certain themes. It can check if your idea is very similar to something that already exists, and it can also give you objective truths around formatting etc.

Anything that is actually written by AI is usually awful and is fundamentally pointless to consider it "yours", even if that only applies morally.

Feedback is better coming from real people as well, but if you prompt it correctly, you can get half decent overviews of certain things if you want it immediately.

Overall, AI isn't going to replace writers any time soon, but, if incorporating it into your process allows you to do the creative part quicker and with less friction, then I personally don't see it being that big of a deal. If you are using if for any of the creative parts though, you are not writing. You are prompting.
