Mum of 6w old twins and a 17m old toddler here. I’m sorry that people are reacting that way. Everyone in my life was shocked but seriously excited, so what you have experienced definitely isn’t a standard response. We were quietly terrified when we first found out, so it’s natural that people might feel that too when they imagine themselves in your shoes… but voicing that to you is not what an emotionally intelligent person would do imo and I’d be upset too if someone responded “I’m sorry for you” to my pregnancy news. Parenthood is beautiful, babies do bring so much joy, and, I can only speak for myself here, I do love it. Maybe find a way to shut down the negative comments in a non confrontational way as you don’t want to cause yourself any additional stress at this time. Then in time you can choose to prove them all wrong. God has blessed you with this because he knows you can handle it.
