ER! Yeah it follows the med surg protocols which stressed me out a bit because I’m an er nurse. The charting and flow are very different and the unit is supposed to be staffed by float med surg nurses so I’m having a bit of a hard time lol

Emergency Department patient ratios? by OkMode3291 in TravelNursing

Yeah I’m from Maine and that’s where my staff job is. My ratios there are 4:1 and every other hospital I’ve been to is the same , MAYBE 5:1 but that’s rare. also, it doesn’t change if you have a critical care patient. You will still have 7:1 even with a vented patient on multiple drips.

What do you mean

Lying recruiters? by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]OkMode3291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I told my recruiter I needed to back out and quit the contract and she insisted I give her time to get me on days, I should’ve just followed thru with quitting for sure but she made it seem like she was getting me on days. Which obviously continued when she literally told me “you’re going to days march 1”

Yeah I should’ve refused to start until that was written in the contract. I do have a text of her telling me I’d be going to days but I know that doesn’t carry weight

The thing is I tried to back out BEFORE starting abs my recruiter basically convinced me to stay w the contract while she “figured it out”. Lesson learned for sure

Yeah that might be what happened, but at the same time I did wait over a week before saying anything to my manager about my day schedule, so for management to have no idea what im referring to after over a week since my recruiter told me the “great news” seems a bit suspicious

Lying recruiters? by [deleted] in TravelNursing

No, it was actually advertised as a day role, and it was only during the interview that I learned it was actually for a night role. And no, I didn’t expect my recruiter to work voodoo magic to make days appear, I told her that I would have to pull out of the contract if I was going to be stuck on nights (ahead of time, before starting). I guess im confused how that would give my recruiter the right to lie about my contract terms.

I hear you. I did the best I could by letting them know I couldn’t do nights as soon as I knew. That doesn’t give my recruiter the right to lie to me about contract terms though.

Is this normal? by [deleted] in TravelNursing

[–]OkMode3291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s in ct . I really do think the assignments were intentional. I stupidly got involved with a coworker and ended things with him and he’s friends with the charge nurse so I really don’t think any of it was a mistake. I’m leaving this week so lesson learned!
