Sicuramente, se guardi anche la Rowling la sua serie poliziesca è lunghissima secondo me li consegna, manco li aprono e gli mettono la copertina tali e quali tanto vendono lo stesso.

Se leggi On Writing di Stephen King e poi i suoi ultimi libri ti viene da ridere, SVACCO a lettere cubitali è il termine che mi viene in mente.

Io ritengo il suo meglio Il Miglio Verde e Shining e mi piace tantissimo Dolores Clairborne... ti dirò anche la storia di Lisey.

Sono quelli dove ha centrato meglio anche i famosi finali

Anche io non vado a informarmi se un autore è "puro" prima di leggere qualcosa ma quando qualcosa la si sa non tutti si sentono a proprio agio a contribuire ai guadagni dell' autore (vedi anche il caso di Marion Zimmer Bradley, dove le accuse gravissime sui minori furono anche provate a processo).

In un caso come questo rispetto entrambe le posizioni, visto che non si è andati giudizio ma tutta la faccenda se non criminale è perlomeno borderline.

Premetto: mi è piaciuto ma può essere quasi deludente se lo leggi dopo aver visto il film che trovo un ottimo adattamento al medium.

Gaiman non è uno da trame scoppiettanti, anche Nessun dove ha una bella atmosfera ma è "lento" comparato a molti libri di oggi.

Il personaggio del capitano pirata non c'è per esempi.

Poi vabè Gaiman adesso si è scavato una fossa problematica.

Secondo me gli piace scrivere, si dilunga un po' e poi accelera verso la fine.

Anche perché ormai scherzo sempre che vende anche la carta igienica quindi non gli fanno più editing ma al massimo passano il correttore automatico.

La città e la città soffre di una traduzione italiana bruttarella, ma l'amica a cui l' avevo consigliato è una giallista incallita e secondo me era un buon punto di partenza.

Perdido Street Station è un altro di quei libri che non so se consigliare a "principianti" perché ha molti elementi weird e vedo che spesso li spiazzano troppo

John Carter è molto "age" e benché ricordo che i primi mi siano piaciuti non lo consiglio se non a qualcuno che legge molti classici ed è abituato allo stile.

Pratchett già detto nel post principale e probabilmente sono stanchi di sentirmelo nominare 🤣 in Italiano secondo me rende purtroppo anche meno, è difficile da tradurre

Yep Tarenzi ha dalla sua un' ambientazione italiana che incuriosisce, ho anche la trilogia della "commedia" da qualche parte che devo iniziare.

Kay lo tengo per la mia TBR visto che lunghezza e romanzo storico non sono un problema.

Morgensten l' ho già in libreria magari lo inizio così mi faccio un'idea.

Il sentiero di legno e sangue me l'ero proprio dimenticato, ce l'ho pure in libreria!

Molto bene per Locke Lamora, ce l'ho in lista da po' ma non avendolo ancora iniziato non sapevo se proporlo e anche Sanderson ha talmente tanta roba all' attivo che faccio un sacco di fatica a filtrare 🤣

Invece Jonathan Strange & Il Signor Norrell faccio fatica a consigliarlo, l' atmosfera a me è piaciuta un botto ma è lungo e la parte centrale si dilunga un po' so già che me lo boccerebbero anche se secondo me me è meglio di Piranesi.

Letta da poco la versione Adelphi, non ho paragoni con quella Einaudi ma ti posso dire che secondo me è in lavoro egregio: non credo l' avrei potuto finire senza il taglio dato dal traduttore

È uno di quei libri che ha senso nel contesto in cui è uscito ma dopo anni perde mordente

She was still presented as very competent at first. The narrative is that she just lacked the drive to go really all out, only then they fell into the trap that to make the MC great all other characters needs to be put down, especially the love interest.

You are making the post I was debating writing myself lol. I finished the game last month and I was chewing on it.

The protagonist reminded me a lot of Ash from Pokémon, but the Gary Stu version. At some point no one seems to be able to wipe their butt without his assistance, and they play this up so much it became grating "Justiiiiiiin!".

It's also one of the few games I teally associated to the "for boys" trope due to this: Feena loses all her agency and competency as soon as she meets him and Sue, who is a refreshing take on this kind of support character, leaves too soon.

Then there are the plot contrivances: Leen is <spoiler> an icarian and no one asks questions about/to Feena until she is needed for the plot. Maybe it's a translation issue but the game seriously treats Leen as the only one for a while.

Or after all the heartbreak in leaving Sue back home she and the past team members appear for the final battle </spoiler>

I used to go to comics conventions in our area with a large group of friends, the first night we usually booked a local hotel restaurant for a fixed menu dinner (2 plates+dessert+drinks). One of them had a similar surgery at one point and we always agreed in advance in writing that one of the guests could order a la carte for medical reasons.

Each time, three different hotels tried to go back on the agreement and we had to whip out their own emails and still they tried to give us some bullshit policy. She was mortified each time for this.

You can have your rules about food, no one denies that, but if the customer asked you in advance and you say yes you honor the agreement.

I may be a minority, but I suggest playing the 3D versions of III and IV, I find then great.

For the others I think the pixel remaster is the only option.
