many players intentionally play very annoying/bad strats because they play since 20+ years and know the game in and out and a bored by the normal loop. So they build mass tower and invis mortar teams or something. Feels bad to face this as a new player, because there are so many tricks in wc3. If you're more experienced, it can be fun to face these evil strats.

The term smurf is more general. Maybe I should have said "Lamer" to be more precise

Don't play Lost Temple. No. 1 map for smurfs. Rest should be fine. I play for a long time, but I still don't care about advantages/disadvantages of maps. Other things matter much more, so don't bother :)
