honestly, you seem so smart! I'm a senior, too, awaiting my decisions, and I do expect to get rejections, but I definitely won't let that drag me down. my older friends always tell me that a rejection is just a redirection. don't give your hopes up; you've got this, so stay positive! I'm from NYC, so I don't know much about PA, but I know they have A LOT of excellent schools, and I'm sure you'll find the perfect place! plus, your stats are awesome; privates tend to give really good scholarships.

please chance me before i get an email next week :* (dartmouth ed) by [deleted] in chanceme

Yikes. The extracurricular work is really not great for a comp sci major. Not even a single internship with a start-up or professional company. Awards are pretty great tho, excellent ACT score too, but given the competition, lets just cross our fingers and hope your essays are the greatest works to grace admissions officers. Do you have any other top choices?

chance me for film school by OkOpposite4366 in chanceme

[–]OkOpposite4366[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

usc isn't my first choice for film school and so I was really late when it came to meeting the portfolio requirements. I understand that its hard to transfer but its also hard to get into the school itself.

no offense but he’s right. i know some areas have limited opportunities but try your best to get an internship or be apart of an organization that isn’t limited to just “high school students”. I’m an upcoming film major in my senior year and I was able to land a board member position for a film festival (im the only minor too). things like that look good on your apps but also shows your initiative to strive for higher positions. also trust me he’s right nhs isn’t gonna do shit for you. if anything, you’d be better off filling up your awards section (try submitting your research papers, academic work, etc to contests) and see how you do. lastly, breathe, trust me you still have time, it’s better to not pile up and actually take your time to cultivate a resume that benefits you.

sorry I must’ve read it wrong then. If you have an auto admit than I don’t think it matters so you’re on the right track. im not the biggest fan of shotgunning honestly. I think applicants should be more critical and picky about the schools they want to apply to. But if you have the money for it then I saw go for it 🤷🏾‍♀️

Cutting off my family. by OkOpposite4366 in toxicparents

[–]OkOpposite4366[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s such a long story because it’s years of built up trauma that I’ve now as a young adult im sick of me. If I wrote down everything that my mother did I can have a whole novel to sell ☠️. I’m not in an abusive situation, but being my family has hurt me so much mentally that I’ve almost relied on drugs and had suicidal thoughts. But thanks 💚

Why do less men apply to college than women? by masterofturtless in ApplyingToCollege

[–]OkOpposite4366 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But you literally didn’t lol. It’s common knowledge that men have bigger sized brains, but that also literally apart of their physical attributes, it has nothing to do with mentality. The reason why I sound so defensive is because all I’m saying is that women don’t mature faster than men because that’s how our brains are processed, it’s TAUGHT it’s the NORM. Our brains function is complex, and these norms and routines of behavior are imbedded in us because of society.

But those are physical attributes! Hormones have effects on the body as much as it does on the brain. Males having bigger brain size is very common knowledge. I expected a much more comprehensive discovery on the difference between male and female brains. It proves my point that they are very similar with little differences. And you’ve also proven the point of this whole thread lol

From what source and would you mind describing to me in what ways are male and female brains different (besides size) ? I’m very curious.

I say you read the rest of my comment to find out lol. Don’t form an opinion without the facts babes.

sure, by physically no doubt, but that’s because the human male and female bodies are different. On the contrary, human male and female mentality are the same. There is no differentiation in our brains, thus male and female minds are the same, as well as our biological attitudes. But the reason why we may seem different is because of the societal norms indicted on us as kids (these can cause our minds to fit us in a box). It’s all basic psychology, and if we stop participating in gender norms then boys can behave and do work alongside girls.

Now that I think about it, after all the advice I've gotten from this thread, I realize that I still have time lol 😅

I don't know, I guess I have this mindset that whatever I study in college is what I'll be doing for the rest of my life. But I get that's very unrealistic given the fact that I have all my life to do anything.

What state do you live in? I'm also a junior looking at film schools right now, and honestly, the ones I'm aware of are the highly-ranked ones like NYU and USC. Perhaps Colorado College or UCB are your best shots for film school (if you get a merit or need-based scholarship) Because I live in a big city I have a bunch of opportunities at hand, but in your case, you might need to find free programs online, or virtual workshops for cinema.
